Simple edge dirk/dagger WIP

Hello everyone.
As i promised, i leave you the pictures of the sheath making process.

I tried to resume the steps in four images.

The first step is to make a paper mask and establish the shape of the sheath. I use the knife to draw the exact shape for a perfect fit.

In the second image, you can see how i cut out the parts of the sheath.
I use a groover tool to make some decorative grooves. I press the body of the sheath between some textured piece of wood to impress it. Also stamp my logo in the belt pass (i don't know how it is called).

In the third picture you can see how I bend the body of the sheath and glue all the pieces together. Use the groover again to mark where the needlework will be. I also put the knife inside and form the handle shape on it.

The last picture shows how i drill the holes for the stitches. Then i wet the zone and start to make the needlework. Once i do that, i round the edge with the belt sander and then with hand sanding. The last thing is to dye the sheath and polish it with a brush.

I have to take the definitive pictures, but in the meantime you can see a video on my instagram.
I hope you enjoyed this WIP. If there is something you don't understand (because of my english) please let me know.
Best regards.

Thanks for all the progress photos. Familiar but different... ;)

Looking forward to seeing the finished photos.

Hello everyone.
A few months ago i saw the Erin Burke's Dirk WIP and couldn't take off from my mind that design, so i decide to start a new thread with my work in progress of that model.
But , there is a twist. Due that i'm making integral knives, i believe that it will be great to make it that way.
I start with a round piece of 52100.

Then, i start to forgin it.

Here is with a bolo/camp knife that i forged the same day.

The next thing i always do before moving to the belt grinder is to remove the scales with the angle grinder, because it is really harmful for the belts.

Ok. That's what i got until now.
I'm sorry about the pictures, there are some taken with the camera and some with mi phone, but all of them in terribles light conditions.
I hope you enjoy this.
Best regards.

This actually reminds me alot more of the types of personal knives carried by everyone in medieval France. European kitchen kniges are actually modelled after this same style.

Very cool! I think it turned out awesome!

Indeed, someone told me it looks like a belduque. I need to study about knives...

That is beautiful work, Pablo. Your craftsmanship in metal, leather and wood is impressive.
I try the best that i can, but always find, at least, a flaw. As i work almost every time in the evening, I believe i need better lighting, i'm tired to find scratches when the knives are finished!

Best regards.
