Simple Tools That Work

"The" condom? You mean you don't have several?:jerkit:

I have a hard time keeping them in stock...I go through them too quickly. <cough> I'm sure you have boxes lying around waiting for some action. You should send them to me before they get old and unusable. :p

Simple tools that work. What are some others?

Great thread and some great ideas here. I strongly agree with duct tape and my Atwood Prybaby. A number of my friends thought it was kind of silly when I bought it, but they all changed their tune after the number of times I've pulled it out to solve a situation. Great little tool.

Also can't go wrong with a SAK. Mine has saved my behind countless times. Along that line, any good solid knife would fit that bill. A sharpened piece of steel is about as simple as it gets. ;-)

One thing I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet is 550 para cord. I keep a hank of it in my desk at work, in my trunk, and in numerous other handy places. There's so many times that it comes in handy.

The basic wooden #2 pencil. I like the Mirado Black Warrior. I always have problems with mechanical ones. The lead slips back into the pencil, or all mysteriously vanishes even though I refilled it 5 minutes ago, or it jams, or the eraser vanishes and dumps the lead everywhere, or it simply breaks.

The Swiss Army knife. I have my father's old Wenger that's older than I am, and even though it's beat up and a bit loose, it still works great.

My great-grandfather's ball peen hammer. Indestructable.

Strike Anywhere Matches. Dip the tips in wax and they're waterproof.

Razor Blade - Shave, scrape, cut, and on and on!!

Arc AAA flashlight. Twist, light turns on. Twist again, light turns off. Every time.

Ah sweet. My sister had one engraved for me for christmas once, yes, engraved! The guy was like, you want his name engraved on a can opener? She said yeah, these things are great and she didn't want my roommates to be stealing it.

Great gift and great funny gift, all in one.

Wooden yardstick.

When my grandfather was moved to assisted living, we got some of the tools from his shop. He was a sign painter ever since he got out of WWII, and he had one in his gear that he'd been using for years.
