Does anyone else carry key chain sized knives without attaching them to their keys ?
Cause I do, but don't like to carry them loose in the pocket.
I like the idea of a dangler clip, but wanted something that wouldn't add any noticeable weight, so I knew I'd have to make it ( thought about trying to make one from a hobby pin but have none ) that's when I found a pilot precise v5 pen laying around which happens to have an easily removed spring Steel clip with a hole already in the end.

All I had to do was flatten the end then bend the whole thing over . ( depending on the split ring size being used the whole may need to be opened up a little with a needle file )

It holds tight enough In the pocket but not too tight, and it adds zero noticeable weight to this .7oz little knife.
This would be perfect for a vic classic, or a spyderco knife like the ladybug , manbug...ect.

Nice work.

I did that too actually. It can also be bolted to the top of spine on the tail as a makeshift deep pocket clip.

I forget which brand it was, but one had a knife with a clip that appeared like a pen clip. So trick.

That looks perfect! I have seen a few homemade danglers posted before and there are some commercial ones, but that is the nicest/cheapest/lightest one yet. I am going to have to try this. I agree with you that on a something like a SAK the dangler works out very well.
Thanks for the idea,
Bruce

TEC Accessories P-7 Suspension Clip. At $12 it's a little pricier than a pen clip, though.

Thanks, and Your welcome for the idea 👍 I may look around through all my pens to be what other kinds may see useable to make more for a few other knives I have .

This was easy to machine, would be easy to fabricate.

I also saw ridiculous prices on these when I made it, north of $12. The are available now for a buck or three if you look around. Something you make yourself is always much better though. Thanks for the idea.

I know of the p7 clip, but the problem i have with it is the size and weight relative to a knife like this. I've seen video's of them and from what I can see their size and thickness ( thicker = heavier )
Is not what I'd consider ideal for a knife like this.

Looks good 👍
Is that one of the sanrenmu slipjoints ?

I have been looking for something like this for my Delica or similar sized folders. The idea being that I can switch pockets without having to keep changing the clip from the right and left side. Anyone know of one you could run paracord through instead of a split-ring?

I'm pretty sure the whole is too small for 550 ( on the p17 as well as the one I made and not much room to make it much bigger )

Thanks. Maybe a small ring with a length or cord to attach it to the knife would work.

Good idea. Sorry about the thread detail. I like what you did on your knife, thanks for posting it.

Not sure how will this one will hold up, but I decided to try and make one out of a scrap of copper sheet I had laying amount. I really like the looks of it with a copper finish and the patina of the old copper.
( this one would look real nice on an old cover bolstered KA-BAR folder if I had one )

These work pretty well, and are easily found on ebay really cheap.

I found some of these from a Thai ebay seller that are about the same size. They have some kind of text and images stamped into them. I don't know what the images and text mean. Work pretty well, and were similarly cheap.

I saw this somewhere online and gave it a shot. It is a spoon handle I cut off and bent to shape. I drilled a hole to attach a small keyring. Works surprisingly well, but is probably 5X as heavy as Hickory's pen clip.
