This is the second knife in the Simplicity pattern. No idea how many of these I'll make, but each one gets a fancy roman numeral.

OAL 9 inches.
Blade 4.5 inches.

Blade is 1080 steel, 1/8 inch thick. The flats are forge finished and smoothed out for a nice pattern with steel wool and crocus cloth. Grind is a convexed scandi, or "scandivex". Cuts like a scandi, maintains easily with a strop or fine grit shop roll on leather backing. Blade is differentially tempered.

Handle is black linen micarta with sublte black spacer material. finish on tang and spine is 600 grit, then hand rubbed with an impregnated leather buffing strap. Pin tubing stock is 316 stainless. Handle is 1 inch in breadth (as is the blade) and 3/4 inch thick and fills the hand nicely. finish on the micarta is 400 grit.

Sheath is a Ranger model, and can fit a 2.25 inch belt. Double needle hand stitched on all seams. The strap stitching is independent of the main welt stitching, which facilitates repair or adjustment.

Serial 313

Currently sold pending funds, thanks.
Asking $200. Shipping is insured priority mail and will run $10.00 in the US. Paypal, money order preferred, checks work out okay, too.

Thanks much. I've got two posts worth of photos, so be patient.

Christof makes a very good knife in my opinion. They are selectively hardened, and the blade geometery makes them very good cutters. Leather work is very very good !
Top value in my opinion.

Christof does that scandi grind have a slighty convexed secondary bevel? Nice knife

It's actually convexed all the way- it's a very slight convex in the new grinds, someone (I can't remember who) christened it a 'scandivex". so it's a bit more acute a drop off near the edge, but it's overall flat enough to act a lot like a flat scandi grind.

Tonym actually explains it pretty well - he snagged Simplicity I and did some writing:

Christof -- That doesn't suck.

;)

Partial -- I think that's Christof's "scandivex" grind. A convex version of a scandi edge. Excellent cutting edge and seems a bit more durable than a straight scandi grind. I've got a couple of Koyote "scandivexed" knives and really enjoy them. If you haven't tried one....well, be warned, they can be addictive.

Hrm. I go by eye, I guess this one is a bit longer. I'll set the precuts on the stock at the 9.25 level for the future. (the rest of the process is hand and eye).

Love that design... the knife and the sheath... perfect woods bumming set up.
