If I remember right, I have already made some photo-review of winter hunt in Russia.
Then it's time to make a review of an autumn hunt.

Of course elder generation always keep traditions at the first place.
What do you think they are drinking as the best beverage for preparation to the serious hunting ?:D

Who is the best emblem when the mood is rising ? Lenin of course.:D

And who are waiting for the hunt to start, watching with an impatience and an incomprehension in the eyes ?

There are some photos of vehicles we were going to use at the hunting:

At the front plan is UAZ 452,named "Buhanka", four wheel drive, it is the vehicle which every real country boy must have in Russia:D
Here is description http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UAZ-452

It is GAS 66 , I think already well known at this forum. Here is the description in English http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GAZ-66.

The view from the back. Of course the vehicle is four wheel drive, equipped with a hoist at the front side.

Here is the photo of our way to the field to make a game drive of a Moose.
The photo was shot inside the "Buhanka" UAZ 452.

And dogs were with us , in the back trunk of the "Buhanka" UAZ 452.
You can see the GPS belts on their necks, of bright orange color.
They are boy and girl, two years old , but clever and smart, well trained. They are of a bear-dog breed, called "Laika" in Russia. Siberian bear dog correctly.
The breed is close to Karelian bear-dog. Nice creatures, I like everyone of them all.

The first game drive was completely unsuccessful and we decided to stay in the field , actually in the forest, and get kind of a picnic as we got some food
and beverages with us.
Which beverages do Russians drink during the second stage of hunting ?:D What do you guys think about it ? ;)

The weather was wonderful comparing with the usual weather of that time of a year. Temperatures were about +18 Celsius = approx. 65 Fahrenheit.
The Sun shone , and we were telling the hunting stories to each other, needless to say that Russian hunting stories are sorta of mixture of anecdote and a thriller and an extravagance in the sizes of a prey obtained and with just smallest part of truth in it. :D

My Internet provider has replaced his malfunctioning Internet hub in my local area , so now we are ready to continue.
That day in the evening we were sitting in different blinds in the different parts of those forests.
Some photos of how that all looks inside.
This is my assault pack FILBE by Eagle Industries , I am using it as one or two-days pack, very comfortable nice for one- or two-days hunting, trip etc.

And finally :D out here you can see what this whole topic was about :D This is an extraordinarily unusual Russian logic. Isn't it?:D
Eventually you can see my lovely Buck knife Ergo hunter , at the closest position to an expectable prey, mostly hog or bear.

That the only picture where you can see mineral water and some tea in plastic bottles:D
In the large black cover is my night scope Yukon NVRS, in there are Swedish hat of gray color, small black cover on the hat is for Nokia- smart-phone with a great camera I was taking pictures with. And of course my Ergo hunter Buck 498 at the front. The rifle "Tiger", sorta SVD Russian sniper rifle.

A bunch of great and interesting pictures you have there. Thank You for sharing with us. If I guessed "Ice Tea" was the drink before and after I might be wrong?

Hi Garryale,

It's been to long between your visits here with us! Hope you are well and your Buck knives are sharp for the hunt:thumbup:. I don't think your hunting team are drinking iced tea as it will not warm your soul for the coming hunting adventure;), my guess would be Vodka. Keep your photo's coming.

I'm going to guess that vodka covers all stages of Russian hunting.....great photos.

garryale, interesting seeing Russian country boys, their gear and dogs! I share this house with my sister-inlaw's dog an Aikido which may have some relation. I've known a quite a few hunters including my cousin that like to hunt with something that fires 7.62X54 or 762X39! That 7.62X54 is a dandy!

Hi there Mr. edbeau. I am glad to hear from you.
Above are some more pictures added, and some other will be added in the near future.
Sorry, "Ice Tea" is not a correct answer, above you can see that tea and mineral were drinking only me and two drivers of vehicles, "Ice Tea" is not a typical
Russian beverage for brutal:D and serious Russian hunters when it comes to the final preparation for hunting.:D

Hi Mr. jb4570, glad to hear from you too.
Take please my apologies for my not being in here as an often visitor . I try to write out here when I get some kind of a short story which might be interesting for you all with more or less interesting information underpinned by a bunch of photos and my comments.

By Russian measures I have got quite a large collection of Buck knives, and they all live well in my safe with hunting weapon, they don't need to be repaired as they are
built strong enough , but of course from time to time I like to get them in hands and make some sharpening or spa procedures polishing brass.

Sorry, vodka is not the correct answer, I don't know if you are familiar with the word "moonshine".:D

Outstanding!
Sir , Thank you sir. ( In the spirit of a private to a drilling sergeant ).:D

Garryale great pictures. Thank's a lot
Thanks Basil.

With your first post in this topic you had to be more patient, to upload big sized photos is not the fast process.
You are not a "Southerner". Are you? Keep cool.
Living in Moscow , the capital of Russia , you must be kinda patient and brutal and imperturbable , as an old Indian leader of tribe watching the bonfire in the long Northern night.
You know as in those old good Westerns , movies about Indians and Cowboys at the West. :D

Hello Mr. 2TONYB and thanks.
You were very close to the right answer , but not exactly vodka, it was "moonshine", that special one which is well known in wild parts of Russia and is able to knock out a horse:D. Local people have many different recipes of it, and you know how it is like to get to the wild nature and get a deep breath of fresh air and freedom from routine.

Nice rifle! Wish we could get dragunov rifle's imported here in the states:(

Garry, your Buhanka reminds me of a vehicle I have been in here. The Omnimog, a cross between a tractor and a truck you could sleep under when it rains:

https://www.google.com/search?q=omn...drome.com%2Funimog-mercedes-benz%2F;2421;1814

You have a rifle that I have never seen before. Thank you for the photo.

Here is my Russian 7.62 x 54, I've shot but not for hunting:

Hello Mr. Oregon ! I m glad to hear from you.
You are right , "Buhanka" was constructed as a simple multifunction vehicle fro hard use. It is like those vehicles by your link , somewhere close to them, but is very old construction. With "Buhanka" in rainy days and nights you can sleep inside when in fields.
Buhanka is translated like a "Big loaf of bread" , because it looks like a loaf of typical Russian bread.:)
Yes my rifle is intended to use 7,62 x 54 ammo.

Your rifle, is it SVT 38 or SVT 40 ?

Check out this link to see some accessories for your rifle.
