Since the rest of this board is a bit overwhelming...

i think you will like the knife you got. the ganzaa will be along shortly. read the stickies over at the busse forum. check out bad mojo site, and the busse collecters reference site. note the ones that you like. by the time the ganzaaa comes you will know the rules and try to score some cool infi!!!

These things are too damn expensive to develop an addiction to like HIKV. I had a coupon for 10% off my next eBay purchase and ummmm might have just ummm bought another Busse... A Combat Badger Attack TAC knife. I probably overpaid, but with the coupon it was $305 shipped and I have not seen many knives of that style by Busse in new condition for much less. Definitely not the deal that the "Embrace The Suck" knife was with a sheath for $350 shipped... but I'll use the sheath with the Combat Badger, and I could sell the "Embrace The Suck" for $400 which is what the last one on eBay went for if I ever needed to.

I'm going to tuck the "Embrace The Suck" knife away as a keepsake, great story behind it. The Combat Badger Attack TAX will probably be going into my emergency kit.

that's what i initially thought to myself also.....

just got a $200 game warden to see what the fuss was all about....then i had to have a battle mistress to see how good their big blade was....then i had to get a ASH to see how good their midsized blades were.....

long story short, in the last 2 months, i have acquired:

3 FFBMs (3x$500)
2 skinny ASHs (2x$300)
1 CGASH ($440)
2 FBMLEs (2x$700)
1 FBM 2008 special edition ($700)
1 fatty game warden ($200)
1 ARK (air rescue knife) ($300)
1 AK47 ($860)

wow, didn't even realize it until now, but i have spent exactly $6000 on busses in the last 2 months.....not including shipping......

if my girl ever found out, i am dead......not, "haha, she'll kill me"........literally dead......

anyways, watch yourself with busses because they are just as addictive as HI blades.......

BCKV is just as infectious as HIKV...it would behoove you to remember that......:D

Actually, The Busse Company Store is not tBusse Company Store will not be held liable for the misuse of any product.
he same company, it is a seperate entity.
Sorry, Sir Rat, I was not using "company" as a term of art. In fact, it is not a term of art, unlike "corporation," "partnership," or "limited liability company." "Company" means whatever you want it to mean.

My impression, rightly or wrongly, was that all these names are but various aspects of The Realm of Good King Busse Maximus, separate entities or no.

Is the Busse Company Store (dba "The Official Busse Combat Company Store") an entity not controlled by the same folks who control the Busse Combat Knife Company?

There's a Rat "Company Store" which is so separate that it's site tells us: "Busse [sic] Company Store will not be held liable for the misuse of any product." Woops.

If all we're talking about is compartments set up for liability and/or tax purposes . . . .

And I have no problem with engineered scarcity. It works for the oil companies. It's just the nonsense of having to solve mysteries in order to buy a product. But, again, he [or they] are selling out, so it works -- for some. Maybe the mystery is part of the marketing plan.

This is the one I grabbed on eBay this morning

The Batac is the only Busse I own that I'm truly disapointed with. A choil on a slicer is unnecessary IMO. Look how far your hand is from the edge there.

On my FFBM I don't mind it too much. Its a huge knife, and ocasionally choking up for a second is necessary. My ASH1 its not in the way too much either.

But on a slicer, you need that edge to come to your hand so you can notch effectively.

JMHO.

Correct. As far as I know, Skunk does his own thing and orders knives to sell at the company store.

This is not DeBeers. Engineered scarcity? And yet you mention that they are selling out. I think you should examine what "Engineered scarcity" means. :D

No offense, but if solving this "mystery" you mention is a daunting task, then. . . (I can't think of anything to finish that thought with that is not insulting.) Let's just say Columbo isn't needed to solve this case.

Busse used to have a standard product line available for order. Wait times started creeping up into Randall territory. . . Hence the new production model of making one and sometimes 2 models available at a time for order, then a few weeks later they start arriving. Plus you have Extravaganzaaas on the forums.

I often see people getting frustrated when they breeze in and want something now! In case you have not noticed, They don't stock HI products at Walfart either.

Eventually, they tend to chill out and enjoy their knives. . . or become bitter whiny trolls taking pot shots at Busse-related threads whenever possible. There are a couple of them on bladeforums.

Interesting to know. Is the same true of the official company store for Swamp Rat knives?

Maybe "planned" is better than "engineered." As in a plan to produce fewer products than there is demand for the products. It keeps the price up. If you think that bothers me (despite my alredy suggesting that it doesn't), it doesn't. It's called free enterprise. Buy it/make it as economically as possible and sell for the best price you can get. Not everyone can figure out how to keep the marketpalce panting in expectation for the next offering. Some make more than the market wants (So you wanna' buy a Ford truck for the employee price that Ford is offering 'cause they really love ya'?)

No offense taken. It's all simple when you have the answer. Everything is simple after someone else has figured it out. The sites are not nearly as clear as you are. Not many lines of tools require regular attendance at a forum for that brand to find out when you can buy what.

I often see people getting frustrated when they breeze in and want something now!
Yup. D...d customers, wanting it now. Thinking they can just buy a model they want when they want to buy it. (Actually, when I wanted a Badger, I called Busse - the company, not the store, and they had one. When I wanted a Stain Jack, I called Busse, the company, not the store, and they had one. Perhaps things have changed. I note mention of cardboard sheaths.)

As for WallyWorld, around here they don't even carry Spyderco Natives. Life is rough. :(

Seems like every successful brand has someone who makes an internet career outta' knocking that brand. They must do searches for the object of their fixation to be sure not to miss a chance to get in a dig.
