What would be the equivalent? Something relatively office friendly, 3-4 oz or so, strong, US made.

Tough call, especially for being only 3-4 ounces. A Busse folder would be a tank, or at least I'd think so.

Anyway, for your weight restriction, A Hinderer XM 3"

There's a lot of knives out there, but USA, and thick titanium framelocks seem to be popular right now (), so most of them are over that weight limit

I could go a little over that eight limit, but need something that won't weight down shorts too badly so no huge ones.

Ritter Mini Griptilian is what I am carrying now, and I like it. Just want to keep options open for something new.

Sebenza?

Have you checked out the Kingdom Armory Mini Samaritan? It's exactly 3oz., Under 3", Ti frame lock, and has a .135 thick blade. Just got mine in the other day and I'm in love! You can find them on the exchange on occasion under $350.

Grayman Dua if you don't mind going 5.1oz.

I have an older Chris Reeve Umnumzaan tanto, pre LBS and Idaho made, great slicer, feels great.

Curtis knives maybe? I like a lot of their designs and they have a couple small ones.

That Kingdom Armory looks slick, love that bowieish-slicer grind

Spyderco Native 5 fits that bill nicely.

good call...

I would add Spyderco Sage 1 if you like Walker liner lock...

Sage 2 if you like RIL...

Carbon Fiber Chaparral if you like mid/back lock...The Chap is exceptionally thin & light for its utility also...

All 3 are readily available and reasonably priced to boot!

If you want something hi quality, lightweight and USA made, I would check out the Spyderco lwt Manix S110V or the ZT 0770CF. Lots of other choices from those manufacturers.

Benchmade also make nice knives, but they are over-priced relative to the competition and many come in mediocre steal (154CM).

Of course, if money is no object, there are all sorts of custom and mid-tech options. I'm looking forward to getting a Hoback Midtech Kwaiken in due course (more than 4oz of weight, though).

Strider PT CC especially if you get a blade without the tiger striping. An SNG would actually be a light busse-like big and sturdy folder, but wouldn't be office friendly. I don't see a theoretical Busse folder being office friendly either :)

Everyone should own a spyderco PM2 at some point. I have had much more expensive knives but keep going back to spyderco.

Absolutely. Either the Knifeart.com exclusive Carbon Fiber Large or Small Sebenza depending on the size you prefer. It's available in the standard blade shape as well as the Insingo. Accept no substitute.
