A "modified" Spear Point Camp, get alot of forward weight with this blade shape... Forged 1095, blade is 10-1/4" x 2-3/8" (widest).

That's just astounding! I'm fantasizing about it having one of your micarta-scaled handles with a slight palm swell, but that hamon is one of the wildest I've seen in the past two years and the modified spear point looks very sweet.

That's what I called as an enchanting hamon ;)

Thanks for showing .. Matt ..

LOVE the blade shape on this one. That dog looks like it wants to bite.

Great blade, Matt! That hamon just explodes across it.
Definitely a blade looking for action.

Flamin' nice knife! Question is: in 1095 what do you do to protect the steel from the elements? Is it coated with something?

Love the hamon on that one Matt!! It is really cool the way it works itself acroos the blade!

Thanks all, the blade was clay coated, quinched at 1450, 400 grit/etch/iron oxide polish. makes a nice working finish that shows the hamon but dont scratch easy.

jkarp, there is no coating, no protection, just plain ole carbon steel.

You are pulling out some of the most dramatic temper lines that can be found out there!

I have a question for you, and a request: what do you think gets the best results, 1095 or W2? And if you could post a picture of a clay coated blade just before quench so we can see how you work the temper line design with the clay, that would be awesome!
