Hey guys. New to traditionals still. Don't know much about brands, patterns, etc. I love stag and look alike stag (like case does). I was wondering if they make any single bladed clippoint or drop point knives in a strong slipjoint with a stag or stag looking handle in an affordable package (I should say under 100, as i'd spend 4-500 on a modern folder without thinking...). I love traditional looking knives but don't know exactly what I like right now so i'm not keen on blowing a ton of money on them right now. Thanks in advance!

Gec (great eastern cutlery) has made some like that. I'm not sure pattern numbers but they aren't hard to find. Prices run a little over that though. Stag is generally a bit higher cost than jigged bone, most woods or plastics.

Much easier to find 2 or 3 blades in stag, too. Schatt & Morgan did a 4+ inch, single clip blade, ATS-34, stag knife that runs about $10 over your budget, but are still available. It's the #90 pattern, I believe.

Queen (S&M) #40 Gunstock Jack is next on my list. 3.5" closed, CPM154 blade. Comes in amber stag, white bone, and black bone. Just under $100.

I think the Cade sodbuster may come in stag but I'm not sure.
Gec also makes some single blade Barlow's and other jacks with stag handles.

It's outside your stated budget, but you should look at the GEC #73. It's one of their best patterns.

You might keep an eye open on the traditional area of the exchange. There have been a number of stag covered knives show up for less then $150.

I'd been eyeing Case's backpocket for some time. Now thanks to you guys I went and ordered one. Do you realize that's money that could've been spent on beer and sausage?

Are there any single blade patterns or traditional fixed blades you all would recommend without stag?

Well the backpocket has all kinds of handle materials. Lots of companies make sodbusters in all sorts of handle materials. If you like high end stuff check out Fallkniven, they got some beautiful trads with all kinds of handle material

There are many single blade patterns from Case and GEC well inside your price range. There are a lot of good venders of slipjoint knives here. For example KnivesShipFree.com, DLT Trading, CollectorKnives, etc. Again also look at the Exchange here. Lots of nice single blade knives have been posted for sale.

Something like this I think, but in a production knife

Actually Case makes the production version with jigged bone on the single blade Saddlehorn that I have seen for about $66 online. Only thing is all I have seen is Green Apple died bone. Maybe there have been other versions so you might do some searches for that.
