Single blades work for me. The biggest reason is that they are easy to open. I like being able to pinch open a knife. Be honest, now - how many of you that carry a three-blade knife don't use at least one of the blades primarily because you can't open it easily?
I find on the smallish stockman knives I own that I rarely use the spey because the nail nick is so close to the liner/scales that it discourages me from making the effort to open it. That coupled with the tendency to carry single blade or two blade knives just makes it seem "unnecessary" to worry with it. But I keep the spey as sharp as the others; who knows when it might be needed.
Thanks to Jason's give away, I've got an awesome new single blade slippie - a Case single (wharncliffe) blade mini-trapper (#6107W) in second cut antique bone. It's a beauty:
Thanks again Jason. I'm planning a 500 post give away, but you have me struggling with what to pick for it. You've set a high standard for sure.
