Single Bladed Sheepsfoot

Going for the Sheffield Farmer's Blade.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions!

TREVOR ABLETT

I really hate to say this but be aware that......
The quality is hit or miss

I was gifted one by Elliott, and the quality was good.
I purchased a couple and the F&F was not good.

Also there is a lambsfoot blade which is thinner than a sheepsfoot blade.

I know you are asking about a single blade sheepsfoot
But a Queen Half Congress, on a single spring so it is thin to carry, has a very good sheepsfoot

Some really nice looking knives in this thread. The Sheffield Farmers knife looks really nice as does the Queen above as well as the others. I bought a GEC Jack a while back with the Wharncliffe blade. It is very handy.

Thinking out of the box!!

Near enough to a sheepsfoot?

It is an awesome knife, a real user
Thin to carry
Solid for any work you can throw at it
Superb steel
Well worth the money....I am very pleased with it

The other end of the spectrum...

A GEC 3" sheepsfoot in carbon in bone or wood
They are solid but much smaller

The GEC EZ-Open 25 is one of my serious favourites.
Although small, it's sturdy and workmanlike. Fine finish all round too. Many choices of scales (and other blade types too)

Very specific and picky request..

Are there any single bladed sheepsfoot traditional folders that aren't prohibitively expensive?

You've already had some great suggestions. Now, a question: I'm just wondering why you're looking for this type of knife. What's your intended usage? I'm just curious what types of tasks these are best suited for.

I know why I carry this one..

It looks completely innocent (which is a plus in my country) and it has an oldfashioned quality to it. Granted, it hasn't got the best f&f but it does everything I need it to do.

Simply beautiful. Now comes the period of trying to scrape up the change.

How long can the human body survive without food?

Longer than you can survive without knives. ;) As my wife says, "where there's a knife, there's a way."

I've bought several pocket knives with broken blades and ground them into sheepfoot & Wharncliffe types. (Not perfect conversions, but close enough to serve their purpose.) The possibilities are endless.

thx - cpr

After using a Byrd Meadowlark Rescue to save myself, I became very much sentimentally attatched to the sheepsfoot blade design.

I'd like to be more conservative in my EDC around town, as well as preserve the edge on my Byrd. Interestingly enough, nobody batted an eye at church when I opened up the Byrd, but standing outside a store, scraping the pricetag off a vase I purchased, apparently made me look like a serial killer.

Additionally, I figure I'll carry the knife a heck of a lot more if I like it, and I really love sheepsfoot blades.

A BF member was very gracious and offered to send me a Victorinox Gardener, which is very good because I have a lot of Gardening to do if I want a slightly more traditional blade anytime soon!

Shorter answer: Because they look awesome!

Sounds great.

I have to say, that Mercator German Sailor's Knife that YayILikePie posted on the first page of this thread sure looks great.

Got my Victorinox Gardener today. Thank you so much VCM3!

Love the knife, I really appreciate your kind gesture.

This definitely more than satiates my need for a single bladed sheepsfoot!

It's razor sharp with a scary stiff backspring!
