Single Cell AA Flashlight?

OK, I know there are about a zillion flashlights out there with several zillion features that are simply "must have" for everybody and I can hear the snickers already! Humor me, OK? I just need a good, solid, reliable and pocket carryable light that runs on a single AA cell.

I don't need multi light levels, SOS or Strobe signals; it will not be mounted on a weapon or bicycle handlebar; it may get wet, but will not be on my next deepwater dive (at least not intentionally.......). It would be nice if it could be conveniently attached to a keychain, but that's not a deal breaker.

I currently have one called a Civivtor V1. It cost about $15.00 a dozen or so years ago and they don't make 'em any more. If they did I'd buy another. It is getting a bot worn and I figure I should have a back-up.

So: any suggestions?

Fenix L1Tv2 is another decent single AA. Older but still available last I looked.

The OP seems to be looking for a no-frills single-mode inexpensive light. I'm wondering if one exists.

I have several different 1AA lights, all with multiple light levels, and each with a different user interface. My wife dislikes all of them. She likes on and off. Nothing more. It's probably all most people want or need.

I'm wishing the OP well in his quest (but not holding my breath.) :)

Check out the Peak LED Systms Eiger. I have one in brass and I love it. Twist on/off no frills, but good quality light. They can be a little hard to get if you order direct from them. Call them on the phone for best service.

I've just bought a few lights for emergency preparedness (after doing a lot of research and returning of lights I didn't like).

I've tried other brands but the I kept these ones. They're really nice for the money.

$12.50 AAA, single mode, 10 lumens for 11 hrs - Fenix E01

$19.95 AAA, really tiny, single mode, 27 lumens for 3 hrs - Fenix E05

$39.00 AA, very small and super light, multimode, 4 lumens for 39 hrs. 21 lumens for 6.2 hrs. 70 lumens for 2 hrs - 4Sevens Quark Mini AA

I also really like the Fenix LD10 (nice size) and the Fenix LD15 (smaller size) (both AA lights)

I don't have one but you might want to look at a
$18.95 Streamlight MicroStream, AAA, 28 lumens for 2 hrs - not too small.

A Nitecore D10 should do you fine.

If you can find the old style nitecore d10 on eBay from a Hong Kong seller, it has no strobe or SOS, just easy to access low or high with variable ramping between the two if desired. It's my favorite single AA light by far.

I've been very happy with my Fenix L1T.It has two light levels but I never use the bright one.

go to Coast.com and pay 3.50 for a "free" flashlight. the last 3 i got were 1 AAA. for a cheapo they work great. i beat the hell out of mine.

No frills? The Peak El Capitan fits your bill. In a nutshell, it comes in 3 metals (HAIII Al, Brass, and SS), 8 power levels (1 through 8, 8 being the brightest), and takes either a AA or 14500 battery. It is a twisty, or you can always get a momentary switch from Peak.

Bob, at RMSK, stocks level #8, but you can always call Peak and get whatever level you wish.

I would rather let the light do the talking than me. This is the best AA no-frills light you'll own.

Eiger mentioned in this thread is a AAA light, and not an AA.

You might try a INOVA X1, i've been very pleased with mine.

I have a D10 SP and a Maratac AA. The D10 is cool and it has some neat features, but the Maratac is smaller and lighter with just low, med and high. If I'd bought the Maratac first I wouldn't have the D10. If you want real small look at the Maratac AAA.

This one is worth looking at IMO.

Coast Cutlery 7461Tek Torches

Single AA battery and rated to last for 100 hours of use. It isn't a key chain size type light though, which doesn't fit that criteria, however in the realm of having a go to light when it gets dark for whatever reason and have it "work", the long battery life on this one is a plus.

I have had and used one for years now. No complaints.

FWIW I had the stainless Maratac AA, it is smaller and lighter and it's a great light also but I sold it. What I like about the D10 better is a lower low and easier user interface. I'm not a huge fan of twist heads especially when they cycle through all three levels. I like the piston drive tail switch on the D10 and being able to turn it on and off as rapidly as I like with it staying on the same brightness.

BTW Maury, if you're looking for a keychain light, the Maratac AAA is the way to go for the money.

I picked one up at Brookstone (looks like its made by Fenix) 1AA bright as hell. Came with little white cone all in a nice ballistic nylon belt holster for about $20.
Nice light.

I'm gonna second the Peak El Capitan recommendation.

Takes 1AA and comes custom the way you want it from various choices in body type, material, beam shape and output level. One mode means they are simple and not fiddly to use. They are tough as nails and fully potted so you could even change the battery underwater if you had to. Made in Arizona, USA.

Most variants come to about $50.

The Peak Eiger is another good choice, if you would prefer something much smaller: the AAA model is absolutely tiny.

Nebo CSI Edge 35 Lumen LED Mini Flashlight.
They are like 10 bucks, I filed the sharp edges off mine
