'Sinistre' Dirk • Don Hanson III

Elegantly Sinistre!

Thank you both for creating something very unique to these threads! Both the work of DH3 and Coop's photography really help keep me interested in knife collecting!

The grind is just superb as are the use of the materials,I would expect no less from Don.
Stunning example of the Mediterranean style.
Coop, you and Don make this place a rare treat in my mostly mundane life.
Congratulations to you both.

All I can say is MARVELOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the great project to the both of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it when a plan comes together! Mike and Manuela

Sinister comes from the latin meaning "left " In italian sinistra as apposed to destra
.

Then I say, "Destra on!!"

I happened to be in Don's shop the morning he was packaging this up to send to Coop. It was mind-boggling then, and it is mind-boggling now. What a great project from finish to end by two of the best. Great work Don & Coop!
It sure makes hanging around these forums a lot of fun! :)

Well, I appreciate all your kind words directed at me. My work was simple and easy, and my idea was only valid when rendered by Mr. Don.

Don is most proud of this piece, and if he claims it has been the most challenging fixed blade to date--well that is quite an honor that I own this masterpiece.

I look forward to Don's Mastersmith test at Blade this year. I suspect there will be a little fish swimming comfortably in rough seas. :D

Coop

Absolutely stunning! (and beautiful too) Congrats Don, one of your best yet. And Coop... I have to disagree with you on one point... I don't think this is "out of the box" for Mr. Hanson. I do think he can do it all.

Wow! That is a beatiful knife!

Great planning and execution by you both. Lin

Wanted to go back and take another look at this beauty.
Jerry's "Boo Daddy" brought it back to mind and enticed me to take another look.
Both have that kind of simplistic elegance that makes them memorable and timeless.

Of all the knives that I've seen on this forum, this one is by far my favorite. It's a spectacular work of art! Great work, in design, execution, photography. Wow!

Coop

Now here is a great reason to make it to Blade this year! I'd love to be able to say: "I was there when DH pulled down his Masters.":D

While I could add a few more adjectives and adverbs to this Thread, I think I won't. Fabulous work by the 'usual suspect.'

I will say: those are some dramatic and dramatically difficult curves. Must have been he** to pull that off!

Can not believe I missed this.
Congratulations to both of you. I love that knife and all of it's clean curves.

I heard about this knife again after talking knives recently with a friend. I'm glad I could find it. It's elegant, and reminds me a bit of one Coop's favorite makers. Regardless of style, Don Hanson's reputation for quality workmanship and design is deserved..Excellent effort guys...Rich

You two make quite a pair, the knife, the process and the final result speak volumes about talent. You both have it, as you once told me Coop. "That is quite a score" Congrats all around.

I thought I had already posted in this thread, but apparently not. That is just an amazing piece! I love the way the lines flow on it.
