(Or whatever gift-giving holiday you celebrate, if you do at all. Let's not quibble over that point.)

Now that you've gotten all the presents you'll get before the end of the year, and discounting gift cards, what did you go out and buy yourself after the fact when nobody bought it for you?

Mine was an ESEE 6 to replace the one that was lost/stolen on my wife's and my return from the U.S. this past Summer. It was actually a very close call between that and an L.T. Wright Genesis, but my Moras get those jobs done, and I just knew I wasn't going to be satisfied until I had replaced it.

EDIT: This was meant for GKD. My apologies; I'd appreciate it if someone could move it.

I did not order anything new, but I did find out from one of the hosted custom makers that my quasi-puukko knife is complete and is shipping!

The knife is the JK Handmade Knives "Twig Mangler" -

John is a hosted maker in the custom maker forums.

I also received a nice EKA W12 in Bubinga, so I will have a for real Nordic knife to compare my new JK to. I am looking forward to taking the knife hiking and camping.

I also received a very cool knife kit from a good friend who lives in Japan - I have to decide how I want the knife finished, so that will be a project for me to have some fun with.

I truly did not have any other knife aspirations, and instead gave several knives as gifts to friends, co-workers and family.

Happy New Year!

Believe it or not, I didn't even ask for a knife this year! There was nothing tugging at my sleeve. But then I got a wild hair and ordered myself one of the Benchmade 710's in M390. I've had the D2 version for years and love it, but I have nothing in M390 and decided to give it a try. Should be here early next week. I'm not real big on the two-tone black and blue G10, but I like the somewhat scuplted scales vs. the flat ones on the standard 710. I can always give it the old RIT black dye job I guess.

Ben Tendick Kraiken and Shyuler Lovestrand TF-1, both unexpected opportunities not to be missed.
