Today I received my end of a trade with this new member.
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1140989-wtt-zt0801
His knife he sent was far from "Brand new". The clip had been reversed to left hand carry and was well worn.
Also the blade had been re-sharpened and has a small roll in it. After I sent him close-up pix of the wear on the knife he refused to ship me back my knife and reverse the trade. Instead he offers to have me contact ZT and he would send me a money order for the blade to be replaced. Right. He claims the knife came from GP knives like this. After many great transactions on this forum I guess it was time for a lemon. Pictures of the
clip and blade are included.

Ya that pocket clip looks like it did some time in his pocket. And I wouldn't be happy with that blade either. Sirgeod do the right thing and reverse the trade, that's how we do things here.Besides the fact that your description does not fit what's in these pictures.

The more I read stuff like this, the more I dismiss any kind of subjective description of an item's condition. Look at the pictures. If the pictures are fuzzy ask for better pictures. If they give you the run-around move on. If there are no pictures... Huge red flag.

Where there pictures in the original thread?

A deal is not a deal until both parties are happy. If that knife was sold as "mint" then the seller is either unfamiliar with the term "mint" or thinks the knife smells like spearmint.............

Reverse the deal, that's the BFC way!!!!

Man, thats rough. I hope he gets that trade reversed on the quick. He should probably pick up the shipping on that too.

That is not cool... He needs to reverse the trade. And he needs to ship first. It is not your responsibility to have to go to ZT customer service. And on the other note GP knives do not send out used blades they are a first rate knife shop.

I know there are plenty of good traders but I am almost wishing that there was a way that when something shaddy like this happens the repercussion would be so severe they would never do another dishonest thing for the rest of there lives.

There were no pictures in the thread originally. We can see every single edit to a thread made, everything. This would have been easily avoidable if the OP had requested pictures up front. This isn't a dig on him at all, but a small part of a recurring theme. An item is bought or traded, sight unseen by an experienced member. They are upset when they finally lay eyes on the real deal and realize their NIB is more like UIB (Used in Box). No real and recent pictures, no deal. We can't enforce that bit of common sense.

We see so many of these threads consistently appearing, and there is a common theme in each one. Someone didn't both to ask for pictures. What was the condition of the item the OP sent is another angle.

I would not have bought or traded sight unseen. I would only trust a select few members here that are as picky as me for a sight unseen deal.

Now, this is the part where it will either make or break the guy. If he reverses the trade, this will likely be chalked up to a mistake and a learning experience. If not, he's shot himself in the foot and will more than likely lose credibility. I hope he does not ignore the issue here. I sent him a link to this thread.

I would also recommend that even if good photos are present, if you as a member are more established than the other member looking to trade, have the newer member ship first. Upon inspection, you can inspect the item and see if it meets the description laid out in the trade thread and then send your part to them, or return it for not being as described.

Best of luck in getting your part back in the same condition that you sent it beemermark.

Thanks for the support guys. Truthfully I do not want this to turn into one of those 20 page pissing matches so I will post this once and be brief.
1. I was emailed photos of the knife and am embarrassed to say I did not see the worn clip and the fact that it was changed to left hand. Not a big deal there but on a Ti. knife the clip probably leaves a mark. The blade wear I could not readily make out from the pics I had.
2. We all know that no trade here is completed until both parties have received their knives and given the O.K.
All this guy had to do is return my knife and his reputation would have been intact. I asked repeatedly for the reversal and he refused.
3. I have been a member of our little community here for 6 years and have 100% feedback with lots of buy, sell, and trade.
I probably will not press this issue further because I do not want to see what my knife I sent looks like now. (He rec'd my knife a couple days before me as my shipment was weather delayed)
4. It is in my intention to clean up the edge on the ZT, I can put a satin finish on the clip and sell the knife for a loss.

5. Finally, My negative feedback on this member will not be retracted by me. Mods, if you see things his way you of course are free to do so. I in no way want to be contacted by the OP and will chalk this one up to "buyer beware". Beemermark

I sent them a gentle nudge informing him of this thread. He needs to rectify the situation. At the very least he should come here and state his case if any.

He was sent a link to this thread yesterday, in the VM section.
