Hi Folks,

I am having difficulty trying to find a reasonably priced importer for Sisal Rope. The ABS states that hopefuls testing for the Journeyman performance portion must cut a 1" diameter, free hanging rope. Many bladesmith's that I've talked with suggested "Sisal" as the rope of choice for this purpose. Where can I find an importer and or supplier for this natural fiber? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Just wondering about this, but do makers ever try to do thicker than 1" rope? I saw that there's up to 2", and was wondering if anyone could just swing and cut that.

(I don't think it would be possible to do 3". Your blade would have to be massive!)

I think the world record is what? 11 or 13 pieces of 1" bundled together...... remember this is done with a 10" blade :p

If you don't want to mail order your rope, try looking in the phone book under Rigging supplies. If this doesn't work look under Riggers, give one a call and ask them where they buy their rope.

This is what I had to do to find a source.
