Sisal wheels?

I have bought four 8'', ½'' thick sisal wheels, I will use them with grey compund.

My idea was to glue them togheter to make a wider wheel and run them on a 3000 rpm buffer machine.

Can I glue them togheter or will that make the wheels to stiff?

Is 3000rpm to fast for 8'' wheels?

I use two 3/4 inch thick wheels. I just put them side by side and loaded them with compound and the seem to have worn together, no glue needed. They don't come apart when I take them off but I haven't tried to pry them apart either.

I don't suppose that glueing them together would hurt anything.

again, the whole buffer thingy is that you want a SLOWER buffer if you're going to be buffing at all. 3000 is a weeeee bit on the fast side. Try cutting that in half.

Glue them together by all means with hot melt or woodworkers glue.

3000 RPM is fast for sisal but will not hurt them at all it is not too fast for sewn buffs however.

Then again I am not a fan of sisal wheels or grey compound, never use either myself. I prefer to sand with a 400 grit cork belt coated with green compound then buff with a loosely sewn cloth buff and green compound.

I tried some sisal wheels @ 3000 RPM and as soon as I touched to them they started to disintigrate!
