Howdy fellow Forumites.

The Situation is::::: You realize in advance that you are going to be magically moved from Earth into an alternate world (Keep reading fellas.) The Point is: You have no Idea of what this new world will be.... You need to survive no matter what... What is the best all around FOLDING knife you could bring....? REALIZE--- IN ADVANCE YOU HAVE NO IDEA IF YOU WILL BE FIGHTING, FORAGING, HARVESTING, BUILDING, DESTRUCTING, HUNTING, FISHING or any other "ING's"

THE ONLY CHOICE IS A KNIFE IN PRODUCTIION NOW... (up to March, 2002)

Keep in mind FOLDING knives. I realize everyone would choose a Fixed knife if available... BUT IT's NOT!!! choose ONLY a FOLDING knife. (seen to many "what if's" to know that you gotta nail down the rules.)

SO... WHICH FOLDING "ALL AROUND" KNIFE????

---

I may come back, but i would have to say a super leatherman. Granted you cant do much fighting with the blade, but given the plethora of tools, one could make all the fighting/hunting implements needed, and you actually have two blades ( unless they changed it since I got mine)--charles

OK, I was not specific enough... Any folding SINGLE blade knife... Whch and why?

Mine? I'll tell ya later... (don't have it yet, but will pretty soon)

Any production, semi/custom, or custom will do... Don't want to get into different blade steels/ handle materials... ohter than what is already in the knife that exists RIGHT NOW>>>> so what will it be???

Mine would have to be a large Chris Reeve Classic Sebenza. I can't decide if I would want to add serrations or not.

John, why the Classic Sebenza, not the Regular {like there CAN be a regular} Sebenza? This ( a Sebenza ) is on my list of the top 5, but not #1. WHY do you choose a Sebenza?

Thanks

-Dave

Buck 110 would be my choice. Solid, time proven design. While 420HC isn't in the same league as BG42 or S30V, I'd have no idea what sharpening tools are going to be available -- you can sharpen 420HC on a flat rock.

Single blade folders? My choice would probably be one of these three:

1) large Sebenza

2) Al Mar SERE 2000

3) Benchmade 710

Good thought/idea!

My first thought was: REKAT Sifu,

but with sharpening maybe difficult i go for the

CS Vaquero Grande!

Mine seems to never get dull or easily get sharp again.

(This is just a selection from my knives, wich i want to have with me, when i happen to switch to one of the the "other" universes.)

This is an easy one. I'll take my Camillus talonite EDC. The rest of you bastids will be bummin' when you find this new world is comprised of mostly salt water.

I would have to go with one of Strider's folders. It would be wise to bring the toughest knife available.

They can take me now. I have my Strider GB on me and I feel that would do just about anything I could ever ask of it. SOLID!!!!

Gotta agree with komondor and ArchAngel. My vote would be for one of the Strider folders. Those things are built like tanks and are big. tough and strong enough to handle chopping if they have to.

Same logic as Buzzbait, but don't want the handle to disintegrate.

TnT.

(not that I can afford one, but in that situation, I'd find a way)

Al Mar SERE 2000, I believe in Al Mar. Over here Al Mars are known as the "Hungry Knife", for its sharpness and edge retention capabilities.
