Situation Grim... What are ya gonna do?

I would take the classic simply because I like the blade better than the regular because I feel you can do more with the pointier tip. I would take the Sebenza because it is a very well built knife and there is very few parts on it to fail. I think in a survival situation the more simple something is the more likely it is not to fail.

Well, since I can't carry the Victorinox Locksmith, I'll go with my CRKT Bladelock.
It's very strong, has an awesome lock, and the AUS-6 is real easy to sharpen.
And I like the Walker clip-point blade design for utility and defense.

Good luck,
Allen.

I'd go with either the Strider AR, or the large Sebenza, the SERE 2000 or the Darrel Ralph EDC with Ti scales.

Great post Dave,
I think a camilus edc in talonite would be fine. I would undoubtably be made into a GOD by the nubian women that populated the planet, and they could use my knife to feed me fruit. Josh

Good replies, fellas. I kind of exected the answer would be a Strider folder, a TNT, or a Sebbie. Now I am kinda new to the knife world, but these choices do not surprise me due to the popularity they are enjoying at this time. (before anybody jumps my ass, let me say that I think it is a good thing that these knives are popular, as they are designed well, made tough and are beautiful. I own a Strider GB, Will be receiving soon a Small Sebbie with mastadon onlays, a large Classic Sebbie and am working on a Mayo TNT, although the waiting list is substantial. I also want a Ralph design, be it the Talonite EDC or a custom, and also want a Terzuola and a Carson, and a... and a.... and a..... )

Ok, for my sake.... Other than a Mayo TNT, a Strider AR or GB, a Sebbie, What folder would ya bring? (This is benefitting me, because I am getting the popular opinion of people who know knives better than I... and I appreciate that.)

OK AND ONE OTHER QUESTION!!! WHAT one (repeat ONE) OTHER ITEM WOULD YOU BRING WITH YOU? THIS CAN BE any ITEM. IT CAN BE A LVNG THING... WHATEVER. THIS ITEM DOES NOT HAVE TO HAVE ANY SURVIVAL PURPOSE WHATSOEVER.

Thanks fellas, see ya in the alterate world............

Spyderco Tim Wegner combo edge. Great cutting/slicing edge; relatively strong tip; fast opening; pocket clip; good grip ergonomics; G-10 scales functional in wet/dry/cold/warm environments.

I would like to take my large Classic Sebenza; however, the plain edge (only) and metal handle could be liabilities. A serrated edge may be needed for specialized cutting and the G-10 would be more versatile over metal especially in who knows how cold environs.

Angelina Jolie would be a nice knife accessory. ;)

Well since you ruled out my Sebbie, I think that the next knife I would take with me would be a Microtech LCC.

1. Carson Large Model 4
If customs are not allowed, then (of course) the large Seb, any variation.

I would take along my Mission MPF Titanium folder because you never know if they have magnetically triggered mines and salt water there and if they did you wouldn't have to worry.:D

Hey Dave, you gotta know mine would be a TNT:cool: :D

I know you just ruled it out, but there can be no other;).

2nd item? a good sharpener.

okay, Bladezealot, you can have your TNT... It's the coollest knife I've ever seen. If anyone out there has not seen it, you gotta check it out... you can search by "custom TNT" or, I'm sure Blade would not mind posting a pic. VERY COOL!

Bigtree, I would like to see that knife... Do you have a pic, or a site I could see it?

OTHER MAYO'S ????? I knew from reading the forum posts that you had two, but OTHER MAYO'S???? I am literally green with envy!

-Some day, Some day... I too will have OTHER MAYO'S :) :) :)

I had this happen to me once.

No really!

sorta.

I was in a weekly group of Role playing gamers who use a pretty versitile universal system called GURPS to simulate things like skill use and combat in the game. Think of it as paper and pencil life simulation with dice as random factor deciders.

The Players (about 12 people as I recall) were told to set up stats for ourselves if we were in the game. We did so and were informed by the GM (think of him as the games 'Movie producer/plot director) that the game began with all of us meeting at the store we were actually playing in, to play games. When sudenly from out of no where a freak interdemnsional storm cast THE ENTIRE STORE BUILDING into another world. We had only what was in the store and what we had in our bags or pockets.(our cars outside did not make the trip)

The GM ruled that we could go around the store and actually write down a inventory of real items that might be useful if we could actually find and show them to him in the store. With the help of the store owner ,who was also in on the game, we scrounged like mad for anything that could be useful in the American Northwest like setting in which we had landed. Rope or snacks or paper, wood glue etc. All bags and pockets were emptied.

Several people had the cheap tiny Swiss army knock off keychain knives, one had a actual dull jack knife and I had a Cold steel Para Edge(spear point). After testing all the knives ( the GM was a stickler for realisim) on a piece of scrap wood he pronounced them adequate and the Para edge, " the best of the bunch"

We made spears, cut rope all the usual light field tasks 'in game' with the knives. I could go on about all the amusing anecdotes to the whole adventure but the bottom line was the GM carried a SAK and kept it scalple sharp. He knew his woods craft and guaged how well the blades we had would perform in a decent approximation of reality. We all realized that staying in the woods on an alien world for a week is one thing. Surviving was an entirely diffrent matter.

By the end we all could see how much diffcult life would be with out a knife. The only other major piece of equipment we lacked was a compass, everyone wished they had brought one.
