Here are some pics from the first class I held at my local art center. I am so proud of all my students!
The knife I did for the demo is in the center of the pic pointing down...the rest are the students knives.
Had a great time....the art center filled this class and had a waiting list of 7 and asked me to do another workshop. I said yes and will be doing it in a couple of weeks. They also asked me to do something for the winter semester.:D

did you happen to discuss your former profession as a gay, rastafarian pastry chef with the class.:)
 
Mete, Sometimes ya gota work with what ya got!:D I have to admit the Art center is lacking in the blacksmith shop, but I hope to change that a bit in the future. I just about packed my whole shop up and brought it down as it was.:D

That's great, man! I think you were meant to do things like this... it comes very natural to you. Good to hear that they're asking you back, especially after that whole Dimpus Burger incident (did you ask them to hold the spit on your Dimpusburger?)...
 
Eh...whats a little spit?

Here is a pic of a little more that we did. I took a big coil spring....think it was from a snow plow and made a couple of these rat tail scalpels. A few students made these and the others made small BOWIES.:D

Congrats Mace! Teaching usually teaches more the teacher than students! I usually try to take any chance i can get to teach anyone interested, it's one of my favorite parts about smithing. Those knives turned out great.
 
Way to go Mace it sure cuts the learning curve to have some formal training with your first knife.
 
Congratz Mace. Couldnt think of a better teacher for someone to learn from.
soon as im done with all this unpacking im gonna have to grab dan and make a trip up to the shop.
