Size Comparison

The HEST is cool, but you have to be careful how you carry it due to the pry-bar end.

I have found it coming close to poking holes in inside jacket pockets, getting snagged on clothing, poking through my t-shirts etc....

I have a zip-up pocket where I can angle it in (right chest) where the pry-bar end comes out, facing downward. It sits just right to where I can zip it up enough to where the pry-bar and handle can be zipped up to and it doesn't snag anything.

I find the Izula II great for an EDC if you want handles. I can fit it in my front jeans pocket, in any jacket pocket and it is very un-obtrusive. It would be a better EDC knife than the HEST for most situations. I would have the HEST zipped up inside something that it wouldn't poke through (or didn't care if it did) to prevent any ripped clothing or having it snag on something and pull out. I recall someone went hiking, had to crawl around and had his HEST get lost. I bet that sucker got snagged on a branch and came out of the sheath.

Thanks for the HEST vs Izula comparison. I would need to open carry on my belt for legal reasons, so it sounds like the Izula II would be the better fit for my needs. I wear medium sized gloves though, maybe the original Izula with the smaller handle would work as well.

Apologies to the OP for thread jacking :D

I don't mean to thread hi-jack, but how does the Izula EDC vs the HEST? I'm in the market for a small fixed, but wanted it unobtrusive when worn on the belt. The HEST has some nice options on it, but is the size worth the extra bells and whistles?

You could toss the Izula in a pocket and easily forget you even have it. Quite comfortable to carry. I carry it horizontal on my belt yo see how it works right now, but will probably toss it in a pocket and carry my HEST on my belt. The HEST is definitely worth the money.
