Size Question

How are the lengths of HI products measured? Is it from the bolster to the tip, tang to tip, or from either of those to the point where the tip would be if it was strait?

H.I. khukuri are measured by overall length, from buttcap to point of blade in a direct line.

They are measured with a straight line from blade tip to the center of the buttcap (end of the handle). The handles are generally about 6 inches including the bolsters - it depends on the model. So an 18 inch Khuk would have approximately 12 inch blade.

I just measured two of my 18" khuks. My nicely rounded M-43 has a 7" handle with a 12" blade. My much straighter Sirupati has a 6" handle with a 12.5" blade.
