Hi folks-
This knife started as a custom order nearly 10 years ago. I lost contact with the customer back around 2007, and the partially finished knife had just sat in a drawer since then. It dawned on me I really needed to finish it, rather than let it sit in the drawer another 5 or 10 years.
The customer had really big hands, and wanted this to be a plus sized hunter, so it's got more handle than I would typically put on a knife like this. So here are the stats-
S30V blade heat-treated by Paul Bos ~2005 with a scotchbrite belt finish, it was flat ground down to a very thin edge, and then slightly convexed to almost zero (this is a slicing/cutting tool, not a brick smasher
), thinly tapered tang, stabilized Black Ash burl scales with ss Corby bolts and ss lanyard liner. Sheath is a simple, split-toe pouch with saddle stitch construction. Sharpened by hand with diamond stones.
OAL- 9-3/16"
Blade- 4-1/16" long X 1" wide at widest point X 0.143" thick at ricasso.
SOLD pf
in the U.S.... happy to discuss shipping options with int'l customers
Please holler at me at NickWheelerJs at hotmail dot com if you're interested.
Thanks!!!
I have a pretty average sized hand (lg or xl glove) so you can see how there's a lot of handle here. The nice thing about it, was it allowed me to put more sculpting in the scales than I could normally fit into a knife like this.
