Plus, who knows, this patina might protect it from further rusting like it would on other steels. I guess that'll be the next test.

I believe you're correct with that guess or you'd have more rust already. Very interesting Brian, thank you.

Here's a 5.1 in 3V alongside the S7 SK-4 to show the difference in corrosion resistance:

Uploading a couple more that are interesting to me anyway. LOL!

Edge was gone. I stropped with Bark River black compound maybe 10 passes per side.

Then I took the SK-4 out back to play for a bit. :D

Peeled the bark and then split down a piece of birch firewood.

Stropped edge is fine enough to make some nice thin, tight curls:

Yep, I think it'll work just fine as is.

So even though sharpness was compromised by the vinegar/water bath it wasn't so far gone after about 6 hours of soak that a good strop wouldn't bring it back to "good enough."

The SK-4 and GSO-4.1 are my best fuzz-stick makers (probably due to familiarity.)

Brian, you've made this thread epic! Man, you've really supplied a lot of good information here.

The patina is getting dark! At first glance I thought your feather stick pics were from when the blade was still coated!

Funny. I just looked at my gallery and the very first picture I ever posted of a Survive! knife was the SK-4 the day it arrived. How different it looked then...
