A 110 just needs a nail nick. It's traditional. I wish it were a clip point, but I'll take one in orange (or gray) anyway.

Finally someone after my own heart! I agree wholly on the clip point. It just looks awesome, but kids these days want the new fangled drop point. :P

Will there be another coupon when the 830 comes out in June since this one will be expired by then.

I must admit I like the look of the long pull better than the nick as well. I also like when I can get away with nothing at all since they just seem unbalanced to me with a nick or pull on just ones side.

True enough, but in 25+ years of 110's (and 112's) I can't remember a single time I didn't just pinch it open. And that is with clip blades, a drop point gives even more grip, making a nick even less necessary. There is almost no function in this case.

To be honest, I think they'll be popular either way.

Over the years I've become keenly aware that every time I pinch the blade to open it,the pad of my thumb sinks into the nail nick and facilitates the opening of the blade.

Unless you purposely place your thumb behind the nick, creating a mechanical disadvantage, the nail nick does serve a function.

If you suffer from arthritis, the added purchase afforded by the nail nick becomes even more important than the aesthetics of the blade.

Two thoughts....

With respect to the clip vs drop point... As a person in his mid-50s, I sense a tension between these two blade shapes. The early 110s with a more California clip were just so single purpose and so frail. They're proof that not any knife can spread peanut putter. Like spreading peanut butter with a nail.

The modern 110 clip is better for me but still a tad too much clip in use. Still too short, spine to blade to be really versatile and still scares me in terms of easy tip damage.

This old Schrade 6OT and the Opinel both have clips but the clip is less extreme. I find them to be more versatile than the 110's clip, which is one reason they get carried more often.

Second thought.... Companies like SK Blades may not be able to talk Buck into continuing to evolve their clip style (although Buck has done it in the past) but good on ya' for bring out excellent SFOs.

My request for a 110 to consider would be one similar to that 6OT. Synthetic scale (paperstone), barehead construction and a lanyard hole. It's noticeably lighter to carry. Would be really handsome, I think.

The last 3 days of the coupon, our website was no longer accepting payments. How nice. So, I'll extend the coupon by 3 days since I goofed.
