Skeletool release 1-15-08

I just got one a couple of days ago and it does look like a transformer!
I do like it but need more edc time with it for a better review. so far I like the weight,
the one hand opening knife and the size of the blade.

I found an inexpensive nylon pouch for it and that'll do for now. it's funny the company is called "Leatherman"
and they've gone from a nice leather sheath, to a cheap leather-like sheath to N0 sheath at all!
yet their the most expensive of all the biggies, go figure...

the pouch was originally for a gerber infinity ultra that I got from
smokey mountain (it was free) and the Skeletool fits nicely in it.

Actually Leatherman offers them with or without sheaths. The product numbers for the boxed versions are as follows:

No Sheath Nylon Sheath
Skeletool 830845 830948
Skeletool CX 830849 830950

my question is why are they "separate?" my Skeletool had no sheath with it and no mention of one.
 
Does anyone know when the even more lightweight version of the Skeletool called the Leatherman Freestyle will come out? It has zytel plastic for the handle and a single screwdriver.
I would like to have one in time for backpacking season...
