Gerry,

Is that top clip edge point sharpened? Or is that a true unsharpened false edge?. If not sharpened, can it be?

It is a false edge Anthony. I could sharpen it but it would change the character of the knife: more steel woud have to be ground off and it would change the shape slightly. Instead of a gradual taper on the top edge, I would have to make a hollow grind with an abrupt transition from the spine to the top edge. If you are interested in the knife that way I can provide you with a sketch showing the change in shape. E-mail me.

Gerry

Hey there Gerry,
I am interested in this knife, but just the way it is now is fine. I do not want you to change anything. I thought if it was not sharpened and it was not too much fuss to so, than I would be up for that.

Super!.. God Bless you Gerry, and thank you again very kindly!:)

I cannot wait to try this one out on my next hog hunt.

Hey Doc,
I picked up a pair of the smaller maulers:D Gerry makes up from time to time in sets of five. You know the ones with the 2 1/2 inch and/or 2 3/4 inch blades, full tang with the Rosewood scales, and absolutely adore them! I am already a believer and cannot wait to bone up on some wild hogs using this new tool..

I like those little knives. I got one with the micarta handle but I'm out for one of the Rosewood next time they come along.
You must be from south of O'ville ,maybe around Arcadia?

Wellllll,, not Arcadia, but,, yup south alright, I sure do got a little South in my Mouth..:p ..:D

My family and I reside, and I work from my little rancher and 2 acre parcel of property in Loxahatchee, Florida which is basically the furthest and most northeastern tip of Palm Beach County.. I am in unincorporated West Palm Beach sitting just southeast of the 'Corbett Hunting Management Area' which is otherwise locally known as 'Boar Galore' or 'Hog Heaven'..

Its just one of the many state hunting management areas throughout the great state of Florida, as you may already know..

I had to come back and take another look that knife just strikes me the right way.

Well Gerry,

Thanks very kindly! This knife just arrived today, this afternoon to be exact. So, I cleaned and sharpened her up for the grand old hog hunting trip me and the boys is fix'en to take shortly..

Now, I am just setting here admiring this nice chunk of steel over a drink.. or two..

Looks like it will be working just fine for me.. Send you more pictures after the hunt.

Many Blessings,

Anthony

Thanks for the feedback Anthony. I like to see my knives get hard use; good luck with the Florida pigs. I've shot a few myself on an island off the Georgia coast and still have fond memories of ribs roasted over oak coals at the camp.

I am a little concerned that you had to sharpen the knife. It should have been hair popping sharp.

Yea, in fact both of the other knives I purchased from you previously were arm hair shaving sharp right out of the gate. This one was not that far off the mark and only took me several long strokes on each side of the blade with both the soft and hard Arkansas to bring her to perfection!.. No sweat.

Gerry,

This handle is the absolutely perfect size for a mans hand. So many custom knives these days seem to come up short in this department. I appreciate you taking the time in your design and to do things right by this fine tool..

Sincerely,

Anthony
