Skinner/hunter... Its done. Pics added

It will be fun! Maybe we could do a passaround to let different people judge. Maybe a all arounder that can be used in food prep, bushcrafting, etc. I doubt too many people are skinning alot of stuff now.

Ut oh...let the competition begin. I will promise to be fair in my judging. Obviously I like Bills styling on his knives as I have bought 2, but I did not buy them as skinners. The one he showed looked nice, but I cant have a pointy tip, cost me too much time skinning to get a clean hide, and not damage the meat. Chris's standard EDC actually has a better blade shape for it, but would need some handle/ spine mods to make it a little more ergonomical. It could be interesting.

i dug this old thing out it reminds me of this ,an old butcher knife

How much for this one? Is it Scary Sharp? Maybe it's another BA knife I can afford! Where the Hell is the fine chunk of redwood burl you usually prop 'em up on? Are those handles KhakiTactical MICARTA? What kind of pins? And how didja make it look aged?

Something to consider: a skinner with a forward swell handle, and the blade bent forward like a droopy [nevermind]....fairly short blade, rounded nose instead of a point, lotsa belly.

Used one once that was sorta like that;belonged to a trapper I knew.
He made it out of a saw blade.
Ugly,but functional....like micarta. ;)
Absolutely the most comfortable skinning knife I've ever used.

AFTER I SET HERE, I WAS THINKING I HAVENT DONER MY BULLWHIP SKINNER IN A LONG WHILE,HERE IS WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE

Bill, those two look like they would make short work out of a white tail.

Chris buddy, outsource . . . . .
Have BA send you a check for $250.00, then you send him the contact information for your client. You put $250.00 direct to your bottom line . . . . . :D :D
Or the pass around idea sounds great as well.
Be safe.

I always liked that top one Bill, it one of the classiest knives I have seen. Im a sucker for brown and black. I should get this skinner/hunter finished up today. Its different!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll judge it...this will be fun. Get some other people to judge it and we can coordinate a scale to rate each knife and do a pass around with them.

So I received an email from a guy that is looking for a skinner/Hunter the other day. Ive never made one and don't get to skin out much except for squirrel! Anyway, I don't really take orders but I want to give this style a shot. He is a custom collector so he has knives by all the greats and it is kind of intimidating really. He saw that Alans Nessie I posted on the main exchange and liked the style so....here we go. I have been thinking about the design for a couple of days and have come up with something I think might work. All you more experienced skinners speak up. I would like your feedback. I wanted something that had a curved butt, slimmer blade, and of course alot of belly. I think a guard would be great but I don't make them so I kind of added one the best I could. Oh, and he is trading me this kick ass custom slipjoint for it! Check out that handle! Be honest, I need some help
Here it is. I added a choil in front of the guard and rounded the front spine for detailed work. Its different but comfy as hell. What ya think?
