Hey guys, I just wanted some feedback on this new knife I made. Its for a guy here in town that wanted me to make a skinning knife for him. This is what I came up with. I have seen this style of skinners before but have never used it out in the field. What do guys think? How useful is this design? The smudges on the blade are the tape I use to protect it while finishing the handle. My wife was hurrying me up at the moment.:o Its the 10th knife I have made. Just looking for feedback to improve my work. Thanks

Specs are
Steel 1/8" ATS34
7 1/2" long
blade is 3 7/8" long
handle is Bocote

Very nice... I like the handle allot..Beautiful work... On a personal note I think a shorter more narrow blade would really help bring out the potential of the handle by making the knif emuch more lively and responsive.. But that one is a lovely for sure...5 out of 5 bro.

Thinner as in the width of the blade from spine to the edge or thickness. I am guessing the first. Thanks for the compliments. The bocote looks 10 times better in person.

As a skinner, I think a touch more sweep in the belly would be better for deer and hogs. BUT, as always, the trade off for a real kick ass skinner is needing an anus knife to plunge in to let go of the lower intestine.

I think the real story of that knife will be told out in the field. I like the handle style and curves a lot, it looks really comfy. I think the recipient of that knife will be really pleased.

I have skinned hundreds of head of big game, looks like that would work really well. I could take it deer hunting to be sure.:D

I agree with the more belly on the blade. The tip is very thin and will work nice in the nether regions.

Thanks on the compliment guys.
