DWRW, your not pooping, you made good valid points. You show some good ideas for strikers and you idea for a half round square is a good one.

I do have dedicated strikers for all of my metal matches, I use them but I also use the spine of my knife a lot too, just depends. I like to try and see works well and what doesnt. Also this way if I end up without a knife I still have the striker and if I loose the striker I still have knife or a piece of glasss or a sharp rock or a ....

So while I like a squared spine for striking it also has someother uses, I can use it making scrapings(like a planer) for tinder or working on projects, scaping bark off of wood. I find the thicker squared works better for this, it also saves on edge wear. Also when are scraping materials for coadge the spine doesnt cut and tear up the fibers as much as the edge will.
