So... who out there considers their Skinny ASH as their primary user? I originally didn't like the design, but it has grown on me over the past few weeks while looking at Busse pics.

If one is forced to own one Busse, is this a good general purpose choice?

Thanks.

Mine is a great little knife, but its not my primary user.

I think if you had one knife for general pupose it would be a great choice for that.

I use it quite a lot. I also use my NMSFNO a lot. I'd pick the skinny ASH over the NMSFNO, but a Sabre SFNO over either. And for what it's worth, I never reach for the CG ASH.

you could do much worse!!! Great blade length, great handle ergo's. The "skinny" blade is convex ground (IIRC), and has a good forward balance for chopping better. Less to lug around, and still indestructible.

I love my skinny ASH and would be content if it was my only busse - great user.

Feels like a feather compared to the combat grade ASH but still just as solid.

The Skinny Ash is sabre ground although a number of us have convexed theirs....I did and it is all the better for it IMO....my Skinny was my first Busse....and I learned how to strip and use a belt sander with this knife...it has a lot of sentimental value for me....and it is one of my sharpest knives...and one of my most used.

It certainly is a great choice...maybe a bit light for someone who wants to do a fair bit of chopping...the SFNO sabre ground LE model is really where "chopping" power starts in the Busse line up for me....although the Skinny Ash will cope with some heavy chopping tasks if you put in a few more strokes....

The things I like about the Skinny and the 3B2 (which is very similar) is the Fusion Grip...particularly for "chopping"...the design of the rear birds beak type pommel gives a good "failsafe" ability to catch the knife if it slips forward...and these knives don't seem cumbersome when worn on your hip.

I agree, when I stripped my old SASH, it looked like a sabre grind. I took it full convex though, and found the blade perfect!

Love my Skinny Ash. It was my camp tool last year, but I now have a SHBM, so I will try putting that to work.

i really like the Skinny Ash. However, if I made it a routine user, I would have to lose the rear talon projection.
Just not quite enough pinky room.

The Skinny ASH is a convex main grind that doesn't go all the way to the spine, so I guess it could be called a saber/convex or convex/saber. The first one I saw like this was the FSH, and I think it may be the best way to grind a med/big blade.

I use my Skinny all the time, it's a great one. And like Soulrack, even though it's an awesome knife, I rarely go for the CG.

I love my Skinny ASH1. I gave it a full convex grind so it is super thin. It slices, dices, chops, batons, slashes. It can do it all in a nice light package.

I think that the new skinny ASHs might be a little thicker than the originals. I got one at KC and, while I haven't pulled out the calipers, it looks like a .22.

The last group of ASh1s I saw at knob creek were .22 thickness ; a nice medium sized blade between the massive .32 and the skinny .187 the original LEs were .22 and I thought when they came out.... "man what a good width CG this would be"
I"ve got one skinny and the 3B2 which could be classified as a skinny too..
great blades. this is my favorite so far... .22 CGASh1

I agree with fbusmc, I picked up a "skinny" ASH at Blade West and it is a little thicker than the originals seem to have been (I dont own one)...about .22. It is a great all round knife. I love it.

For those of you with the "new skinny" @ .22" thick, when the knife is laid on a table does it balance on the handle with the blade completely off the table, or does it tip over and rest on the blade point?

Thanks,
Will
