Well, it's not really that big , but since last one was the Bully, I'll call this the BigBully.
What the heck

1/8" thick 1095 steel
OAL = just shy of 8"
Blade(tip to handle) 4 1/4"
Blade width = 1 1/2" +
Handle = Corian

weird, the spine may appear curved in this first pic, but it's straight.

Handle = Corian

like the Kitchen countertops?

Why that material??

Yes, like the countertops. Why not?
It's very dense, can be worked with standard woodworking tools, doesn't react to hot, cold nor moisture.

Biggest reason, I have scraps of it lying around. ;)

I was just answering, nothing meant by it.
Why? Why not? ;) Just an expression.

Corian is fairly tough stuff. I think you would have to pound it with a ball peen hammer to crack it.

Looks like a Ranger had a baby with a Becker Companion! +1 I like it...nice work Skunk.

Chef, I love the comparsions about knives hooking up to give birth to little knives! great stuff!

I am trying to design without looking at a lot of pictures, or trying to pattern after a particular knife. Trying to keep it plain, purpose built, without frills.
Only finishing them bare-bones as users.

Next one I may try to diverge a bit from this overly dropped point pattern.

Thanks for the kind words.

Looks alone would make that handle material a cool option, Very Nice work, Now go abuse it and send us pics. :D

What kind of sheath are you thinking Kydex, leather ?

How did you sheath the Bully

Definitley looks like a knife i would want to take afield

Riley, thanks man, I got a ways to go. Up close these things are pretty rough looking. I don't mind as I want them to be users, but they are not works of art.

EmsRescueGuy, I love leather, but don't have the tools nor a supplier close by. So kydex for now.
The original Bully hasn't gotten a sheath yet, so maybe, this weekend while the ice and sleet melts, we can melt some kydex for both of these puppies.

I'd like to make some similar to this one, a bit larger (longer) , but, I think we'd be better served with 3/16th" thick 1095 for those.

Really looks good Skunk. I had the same thought with the Corian also. My wonder was if if would be slippery when wet? The blade looks great and so does the handle.

KR

kr1, that is a good point, the corian can be roughed up, or polished smooth.
I'd imagine it would get slick, just like any other smooth polished handle would.

Maybe routing some small flutes into the surface would give more "grab" if it got wet? I'll check it out. good thought.

But, otherwise, the corian "works" fine, can be filed, sanded, cut with a jigsaw, whatever.

Hmmm... Skunkwerks.com. Gonna have to keep an eye out for that.

There's a knife I have in mind, a shape and design that's forming somewhere in the back of my mind, that would be perfect for me. I really should sketch the thing out some day and see if there's a skunk works somewhere willing to make the thing for me. ;)

Also, I know all about corian. We just had it put into our bathroom. Expensive stuff....

 Hey, you're doing knives now?
What happened to our backyard survival school!

:D Good on you Bro! Keepin' it Pro-Active as usual. Knice work as well! I look forward to seeing more.;)

Maybe its the pictures but the handle seems a bit short? I am sure it fits you great. Have you tried a full Convex grind yet? is that a flat ground edge or convex? I like the last few knives you've posted...yeah I agree they are rough(not too rough),but each one will get better and better. To me the knife looks shaped well and the handles look smooth and comfortable. Great job, it wont be long till we see ya in the makers section maybe.

What's a good outdoor school without a "knife making" class? :D :D
Thanks for the compliments.

Everyone , thanks for the kind words.
It's a good motivator.

Barrabas: it's "kinda" convexed, I finished it up on a mousepad, slowly changing paper grits up to 1200. But then I used the sharp maker for the last little bit, SO it's like convexed down to a micro-flat-bevel....if that makes much sense. My grinds still get a C- for a grade, I'll have to work on them, and the finish. As far as the handle, all 4 fingers fit.

I've been working on the theory that the BeckerNecker is a good little knife, but, it's only a 3 finger knife, been trying to squeeze that last digit on the handle, and have a beefy blade, but keep it all small enough to still be the the PSK realm. OAL 8" or less.
