Skyline or Buck vantage?

SKYLINE. I own both. Skyline wins > reasons: better carry, lighter, flips much nicer, buck's flipper is too small (the only place the buck wins is the clip - sweet deep carry.) Goodluck

I don't have the Skyline, but I love my Buck Vantage Force Select. It came wicked sharp, not blade play and perfect centering.

Buck has some serious quality control issues with the vantage and I've never heard anything bad about the skyline. Go with the skyline my friend.

It's tempting to just carry a cheapo Kershaw assisted opener. All those AO PRC babies are just aces, and I have carried the Tremor from time to time, just really like something about the Vantage. And Cold Steel Amer. Lawman is gonna be pretty hard to supplant out of my other pocket.

The value Kershaw AOs are nice little toys to carry without much care. I've got a couple (Oso Sweet usually spends time in my pocket) and haven't worried about losing it or busting it up badly in use.

Also, many props to you for your use of "supplant." I haven't seen that word used casually in so many years.

The Skyline is one of my favorite little knife's since buying it a few months ago, I'm looking over the blue s30v Edition thread right now and if I can get one I will.

with no blade play and a centered blade?

Yup, my $20 Buck Vantage Select has no blade play, is centered, and can be flipped open with a firm slide of the index finger, without wrist flip. It took a little breaking in.

I'm much more of a traditional folder guy, so my vantage doesn't get much love. It works as advertised, though.

I've owned both and had QC issues with both. The Vantage (Avid) came with a terribly uneven grind, the blade was very off center and it was quite difficult to flip at first. However, this was soon after the model was released and from my understanding many of the original QC issues have been resolved. I just never quite warmed up to it, so I got rid of it shortly afterward. I've owned a Skyline for a couple of years and it remains one of my favorite EDCs. However, the lock fails with less than moderate pressure to the spine and the pivot screw refuses to stay tightened for even a full day. It hasn't seen any truly hard use, either. Despite this I still love it and carry it more frequently than any other knife I own. I also recently sanded and polished the G10 and refinished the blade and it is downright gorgeous.

I have both and carry my Vantage more often. I like it's deep pocket carry, and it slides into and out of the pocket easier.

This thread prompted me to make this video. The first minute or so shows me flipping open the knife, showing blade centering, etc. The rest is me babbling about the knife.

I have the cheapo version of each, just to get the feel for the models. I like the skyline a little better and will be ordering the upgrade forum knife.

Have both like both. Skyline is nice, light, flippy. Vantage is little bigger but not large. Again flippy . If I had only one it would be the Vantage.
