Follow along with me as I stumble through this new process! Skystorm gave away a few of these kits about a month back and I'm finally all set with tools to be able to get this one going. Here's the start I got on it last night. I ended up stopping because I need to do the dye outside and didn't have any daylight. That'll be next, so stay tuned!
Here's what comes in the kits. First, the leather pieces, then the bag of thread, snaps, eyelets, firesteel shock cord attachment, and needles.
Here are the tools I'll be using. Not pictured is the dye, drill press, and sandpaper (maybe belt sander, we'll see).
This is my improvised compass I used for drawing the seam guideline. It worked well...next time I'd rather use a compass.
After the line was on, I used a stitch marker to mark where I'd drill each hole.
Then I marked them a little deeper, and slightly corrected a few, with an awl. I'll take these even deeper after I glue the welt on and fold it over.
That's all for now. I'll get it dyed tonight, I hope.
