I was in the market of buying a sheath from skystorm leatherworks and I came across this review:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ItDYFjNNiAQ

While I don't agree with everything the reviewer said, he made some good points regarding the sheath

1) the leather loop and the strap is poorly designed.

2) the length of the sheath and knife blade ratio

3) the survival pouch is just flimsy and the way it's attached wasn't really well thought out. a flimsy with a snap on loop can and will easily get detached form the sheath.

I watched video interesting review. I didn't have that version. I had a Hawk Scout sheath. No pouches, different made designed quick release(see website) and I didn't experience any design, craftsmanship or any other issue. In fact I was extremely impressed. I can't say anything about the other style like in the video, but the Hawk Scout was impressive, and I honestly don't recall an issue with excess sheath length. Maybe he makes the other styles different. As far as customer service all I can say is communication and delivery time was excellent, can't tell Ya about warranty issues cause I had no problems.

One more thing. The video and review was well thought out.Thoroughly explains issues and even suggests fixes for problems. Definitely a design and manufacturing issue with that style. Like I said though, the other scout style (hawk) is different design. Could find no issues with that style.

The placement of the bungee cords were just manufacturing defect and where its placed is just not well thought out. i wonder why skystorm didn't honor any warranty repair or fix on the product.

silly design/concept to begin with. a sheath is to hold a knife, not a 'survival kit'. i have a couple skystorm sheaths. both vertical carry, both with the hedgehog release, 1 with a dangler loop, neither with any other accessories. both sheaths were top notch quality. couldn't ask for anything more.

I agree with the OP and the maker of the video that the received sheath has at least a couple defects.

While I am sure that Skystorm Leather has made many, many great sheaths, that has no bearing on the issues with this sheath.

I can't imagine there is a single member here who would be happy, if upon taking delivery of a brand new car found lots of scratches, and when they complained, were told that Ford / Chevy / whoever had made many models without the scratches.

Because a company has had many successes doesn't fix their failures.

Agreed, if I made that sheath I would be bending over backwards to make it right. What I saw in the video was unacceptable.

This isn't a gossip board, I didn't realize we could just post random negative information about whomever we want, nevermind that we have never had a transaction with them. Who wants to be bothered by facts anyway when we can just have one sided conversations.
You have nothing to do with the transaction other than regurgitating another persons point of view from a youtube video that you did not make. You seem to do a lot of complaining about custom makers, wait times, etc. If you plan on posting a negative review I believe you should be notifying the other party for rejoinder. Since your review is not even your own maybe you should just not post at all.

We have already reached out on multiple occasions to this person to provide a resolution for them and been rebuffed. Every now and then I come across a person who, for whatever reason, either cannot, or just does not, want to be satisfied. I can tell you for a fact that it won't be from lack of trying on our end. Sometimes that's just how it goes, anyone with any kind of retail experience will tell you the same.
I am not going to bother with all the details because frankly it isn't anyone's business but the customer and ours, I will say that he has been afforded every opportunity past, present and future to return for a refund at any time. He has so far elected not to return it and prefers by his choice to remain dissatisfied.

Good answer. My own question when I first read this was did anyone contact Skystorm? You can't come here with a source we don't know, smearing someone. At least, ask him about it first.

You're not the buyer or the maker of the video. That makes this thread nothing but hearsay. Inadmissable.
