So, I bought a Slasinski hammer hawk from ragnars forge and wanted a 23" handle give or take a couple inches . ragnar said that he didn't have one that he felt properly fit the hawk and that I should use a hickory sledgehammer handle ,use the swell as the head and cut it to my preferred length . Only problem is I cant seen to find any that aren't too thick or have swells on both ends. does anyone know a good place to pick up a handle like Ragnar suggested ? and has anyone done something similar with your own hawk , I'd like to see some pics if anyone has them to help guide me in my project.

I concur with the above two suggestions. You most likely will not find a thin enough sledge hammer handle to be able to plug-and-play, so to speak.

well, damn I was hoping to avoid that , but I figured that would happen . Does anyone know a place on-line that would sell 23-30" tomahawk handles for a reasonable price?

Check out some of the forestry supply sites. Some of the fire rakes use the same form (or used to) and the handles are certainly long enough for you to customize the length. A mattox handle might also be considered but may need more rounding
Good suggestions!
