Sledgehammer Leather by Branson

Great looking knife, sheath and car, Will!

Nice work, Stuart.

Thanks again for the kind words, guys.

I realized after posting the second pic in my original post that the knife was not all the way in and seated in the sheath--I was distracted and didn't notice at the time. Here's another fully seated under flash that shows how the stingray nubs reflect light--the skin looks wet even when dry:

And one final pic showing the back of the sheath--a little overexposed to show the detail of how Stuart brings the super-soft deerskin lining down the back side of the beltloop, giving it an integral look. The soft deerskin lining really protects the satin blade finish from scratches and adds cushioned "grip" that helps secure a heavy knife--professional all the way:

I'll add these pics to on my original post, also.

Outstanding work there! Congrats Will! :)

Thanks a lot guys. It's nice to hear that you like my work. :)

I really need to mention that Paul Long has been a great mentor to me in my sheath making. The deerskin lining and techniques are largely his and he has been so straightforward in his sharing of knowledge and advice. The man is an icon and probably will never be matched as a sheath maker. His style has set the standard for what a fine sheath for a fine custom knife is in it's very concept. Well I think so... :p

Two works of art. Just came back from Norcal---No place on earth like PCH early in the morning when the weather is a little nasty..

Had a sledge hammer and ended up selling it for need of cash. I miss it and am going to try to pick up another one when cash permits.. Nice thick blade... screams BUSSE.. :)

Thanks for those links, Guy. Yeah, Stuart's artistry and craftsmanship have carried over into making some very fine knives. Here's another link to a hunter he built to my design--one of my favorites:

Thanks, I had missed that on the Custom forum. Beautiful package. I did recognize it as part of the continuing series of "The Will York Hunter" ;) Can't wait to see the complete set. btw, have you commissioned the BCS to do one?

Actually, I've tried to commission Jerry to build a limited run of that design in INFI with reduced tangs and natural handle materials, as a quasi-custom adjunct to his "Heritage Series", either delivered in bulk to me to market or doing some kind of joint marketing effort. He hasn't said no, but so far has not given me a commitment.

Thanks for the nice compliment, Guy--I appreciate the positive assessment coming from someone with your well-developed knowledge and eye. Means a lot to me that you like that piece.
