Sleeper Knives?

I would say that I also love the Kershaw Splinter and SOG Twitch II but I kind of expected them to be nice...I think my biggest suprise was the Benchmade Rant. Very nice knife.

The $23.00 Buck 110 from Wal-Mart.

Heavy, but beautiful, brass and wood, and the it really cuts much better than I expected for 420HC.

Probably due to the heat-treating done by Paul Bos, and Buck's own Edge2X blade grind.

Cheers,
Allen.

A.G. Russell Ultimate Pen Knife. I kind of thought it would just be a nice little toy but I carry it all the time in my wallet and use it all the time.
As an aside, I flew from London to New York last month and forgot to remove it from my wallet. It made it through all that security and on to the plane. That did surprise me.
I won't let it happen again though.

Benchmade 921 Switchback. I bought mine, a limited edition with D2 blade and pewter-anodized handle, strictly as a "safe queen". But once I got it, I found it to be an amazing user. It's very sheeple-friendly; thin enough that I forget it's clipped to my pocket; much more comfortable in my hand than I expected; the small secondary blade is very handy for small, detail jobs; and man-o-man does that D2 wharncliff blade cut! Even though it's one of only 50 ever made, I can't resist carrying it; it's one of the most-carried knives in my EDC pool.

Agreed! I just traded for a 921 but in the standard S30v. It is one of the 1000 pre-production limited editions but was already used so no real temptation to keep it as a safe queen. I was really shocked at how much I enjoyed this svelte but sturdy blade. Light and thin, you barely know you're carrying it. My first Axis, in which I've been very impressed. I really like this MUCH better than expected!

A Byrd Folder best £10.00 knife I've ever bought.

A CS ODA, £30.00 sharp and so far indistructable.
(and made of the 'rubbish' 420 steel.

Latest amazing blades for me..
CRKT Crawford/Kasper large folder.
SOG NW Ranger is a very cool camp/hunter fixed 5"er.

Even though I fully expected the BM 610 Rukus to be a well made and quality knife, I've been surprised at how well I have come to like this knife. It has been a constant companion for the last month.

Kershaw Vapor
Kershaw Storm
Buck Mayo Cutback

They look and feel like more expensive knives.

Right now I would say the Spyderco "Stretch" has turned out to be more useful and, shall I say better, than expected. It seems better made that many other Spydercos, perhaps because of the stainless steel construction. But, the 14mm hole coupled with an incredibly smooth action and larger than expected blade yield one fine EDC pocket knife. Thin and classy so you can carry it to church or in your business suit, yet with a blade that need not make any apologies to the big boys.

I'll 2nd that on the Dark star! Only problem is mine is numbered and I don't want to add to my Rotation of about 14, but it sure is one nice piece + I play with it at night.

My Queen Country Cousin (sodbuster) Cherry with D2 blade. for a 20 something dollar knife this blade is awesome. it just don't get dull and the opening and closing action is perfect. I find myself enjoying it more than some knives that cost 10x as much.

Byrd Raven & Crow. Both cheap ass knives that can hold their own with my big boys, only wish the black finish was done a little better.

Darrel Ralph DDR-3 folder kits. The fit on these knives is excellent when they are properly assembled, and they are excellent users. A DDR-3, purchased for the enjoyment of construction process, has now become my preferred EDC knife.

Also, the Becker Necker. I purchased one on a whim, and after a few weeks I found myself appreciating its durability and ability to hold an edge. I'm convinced that fixed blades of this sort make better EDC knives than most folders now.

Hey Guys...

There are several knives that get attention by some people and are passed on by others because of the price,, or looks and those would be moras..
I was turned onto Moras a year or so ago and for a price tag ranging from $10-25 bucks.. They are incredible...

Another knife I think is a Sleeper is the KBar TDI, and CRKT Plan B...
Not sure why everyone doesn't have one..Awesome blades..

Most recently knives that I've heard a lot of talk over,,have paid quite a bit of attention to,, but haven't held one until recently is the "RD" line from Ranger Knives... I was really impressed by this knife..Fit and Finish were right up there and for a $90 price tag,, in my opinion worth every penny...

There are several other,, but can't think of them at the moment...
