Sleeping bag

can't help you on the sleeping bag, I stay very low tech with my sleeping systems...I like the comfort and flexibility you get with a blanket.

About the fleece sleeve-http://www.duluthtrading.com/search/searchresults/70005.aspx?feature=Product_2&kw=sleeping+bag

I have used fleece blankets before but I use it with a poly blend or wool blanket on top of it. Unless you are a really warm/hot sleeper or are using some really thick fleece it may not be warm enough by itself though.

It was a wiggys desert bag, anyone have expeiance with one?

gazaati, I will check those out....

I dont know if I can make one for how cheap cabelas has em. I dont have a target, but theres one in columbia, I might check next time im up there....

I like my Snugpak Jungle Bag. It has a built in mosquito net over the face that can be zipped out of the way.

i also like the versatility of a blanket. you could put a strip of velcro on each side of one so you could also use it as a makeshift sleeping bag

You may be able to get by w/ a wiggy's poncho liner - a little heavier than the issue liner, but warmer (and not as slippery). You should be able to get one for around $30, delivered.

If it can be kept dry I'd go with the RAB Quantum Top Bag AR http://www.rab.uk.com/products_sleep_qseries.html . I had one of their bags before and loved the performance vs size /weight.

Snugpak is what I use here in England most of the time because it's likely to get damp. Obviously there's a size / weight penalty compared to down but I like them. The quality has a great reputation here too.

If you want lightweight, just consider taking a top and bottom of polypros or wool undergarments (under your clothes) and just sleep on a thermarest while being covered with a bivy? That is what I would do, and is far lighter than carrying a sleeping bag. You can also use your surroundings to add warmth by situating leaves all around yourself or lying between the fire and an outcropping rock face. Just rambling.

I've been using a SnugPak Jungle bag for the last 3 mns (and it's seen a lot of real use) with a cheap sleeping bag liner (SlumberJack for $20). I've been very happy with it, best money I have spent on great in a long time.

I do like the idea of a Wiggy's poncho liner, need to look into one of those myself.

I've had one for years.I got the camo version that converts to a jacket, long coat, and sitting shelter.Nice bag, light weight and for me comfortable down to the 40 degree range..YMMV Hard to beat the wiggy bags.
