I've been using a North face cat's meow for the pas 7 years it'sa great bag.. rated to 20 but I;ve used it down to 10 withe a pas underneath under a poncho and have been fine.

Both my wife and I have this one, and the first trip I took it on I really liked it. But, on this last trip, second trip, I froze in it, and it only got down to 45F!
I've been thinking about bringing it back and getting an REI bag. It's only rated to 25F, but supposedly it is supposed to be a "true" temp rating.

P.S. They have a long version that will fit up to 6'6" person, that is the one I have.

I don't think you are going to get what you are looking for for less than 100 dollars. Just the extra length usually adds 20 bucks or so. Plan on about 150 at minimum, to about 200 for some selection.

You can try Campmor and look for their "Hot Deals", or the REI outlet, or Backcountry.com outlet, for the best prices. I think you will still be hard put to find what you are looking for at that price though.

Hey man, If i were you I would get a G.I. down sleeping bag, $40 to $50 at any local military surplus store.

the nf cats meow is an excellent "value", though it's a little more than your targeted budget

look into the exponent canyon or the REI polar pod, they are in your budget range i beleive

I have a Browming Rogue, Oversized, right around $100. Excellent, can't say enough good about it:

Then I also found this bargaiin at Cabela's looking for mine:

Under $50 seems like a steal. I love mine and would recommend it unless you're looking for a pack sleeping bag. It is a little larger than some NorthFace, Marmot, REI, etc, but then thats reflected in the price I suppose. Good luck!

I'll have to look but I have a really good lightweight bag that set me back $100 Cdn, so you could probably get the bag and a nice fleece to toss inside(what I do) for colder weather. I have been out May and June in it(still cooler weather in my parts) with the fleece and it has been great.
The big plus is it is the size of a loaf of bread packed up:thumbup:

OK...just did some temp math(Celsius here) I guess you are looking at around 52 degrees Celsius, I think the bag I have would do that and it is long as I am 5"11" but wanted a long bag.

Let me check and get back to the thread

Just checked where I bought mine....looks like it is no longer available:(

Sorry about that. I got mine almost 10 years ago and back then I picked one up for my brother. I also sold my room mate in college on one too(now my wife:D) and twice while in the store I helped the sales people sell them to unsure customers:thumbup:

I wonder if you could cross reference or compare it to anything available today???

If you will only use the bag a few days a year, most major brands will work great. For several years I used a bag most nights. I found Wiggy's to be the best. I could machine wash it every two weeks, and the bag just kept on going. Yes the bag is not "sexy" or the lightest weight, but it keeps going and keeps me warm. Because of my experience, I wouldn't use anything else.

ive had a USGI intermediate bag for about 15 years. Cannot beat it imo...its kinda heavy, but it is a warrior!

I us a US Army ECWS Sleep System. It is 2 bags that can be used individually or together. It is rated to -30. It also includes a bivy. You can find them used on the auction sites for around $130.
