So the recent thread about sleeping bags got me thinking...

I currently use a Snugpak Softie 6 Kestrel - don't get me wrong its a great bag and it keeps me warm.
But I always found it bulky and a tad too heavy.

So for any of you guys with a bit more sleeping bag knowledge what brands should I be looking at.

My needs are at least down to 0 degrees Celsius or better yet -5 degrees Celsius.
Preferably in a Subdued colour, my old down bag is one of those blue, green and sickly purple. Great bag but just funny looking.

I also would want a down bag - mainly to try out but I also hear its lighter and more compressible.
Now before any of you say anything about being wet, I live in Australia. And I have never gotten my bag wet, never. The chances that it would rain so hard that my sleeping bag gets wet is about the same chance of waking up with a kangaroo on my chest.

Here are a few brands to check out. These are geared towards backpacking with westernmountaineering and featherd freinds being pretty well top of the food chain.

Dont underestimate a sleeping quilt for that temp range. The Jacks r better quilts are affordable IMO and super high quality! Despite the kind of cheesy website.

If your looking to spend less go over to www.campmor.com. They have some less expensive down bags that Ive heard have a good following.

Hope that helps!
