Go Wiggy's. You really need to go over and read all his news letters. You'll be shocked. The man calls a spade a spade and that's why I like him. He also couldn't print what he does and not be sued into his next lifetime if it wasn't true.
In 1995 I bought a Desert Bag from BQM for a 3 week camping trip. I couldn't believe a bag that could be stuffed into a bread bag could be that warm. In 1999 I needed to replace a worn out bag and couldn't even find out where the Desert Bag had been made. When I finally found the website I ended up with a Nautilus and a 20 degree Camper I cut to match the Nautilus. They zip together to share with a "friend" and the temperature rating can be changed just buy deciding which bag is on top. If you and your "friend" sleep at different comfort ranges just rotate the bag so the zipper runs down the middle and each can have their own comfort zone and still sleep together. The bags will also insert inside each other and will take me down to zero. The Desert Bag will even go inside for added warmth. No it's not for backpacking, but for an elk camp, snowmobiling or car camping the versitility hard to beat.
As one of the other posters said these bags have no loft, they "wrap around you". It's totally different than down. you warm the fiber and it keeps you warm, it works.
Also try the fishnet long underwear. Makes a big difference in the bag and under blue jeans it make them feel flanel lined. Unlike long underwear you don't get hot when you're inside because they breath.
Ok, so I'll stop. But if there are any "feather people" out there who are looking for a great USA made -20 down backpacking bag pease email me at VitalSupply@webtv.net..I have a deal for you......Bob
