Sleeping giant

Awesome pics Tony. Thanks for posting. Too bad about the speed walkiing; not my cup of tea either. If you can't enjoy the fresh air and scenery you might as well be on a track.

Beautiful view. Thanks for sharing Tony.

If you havent yet tried the blue and white trails they have good overlooks and cover most of the places of interest. They usually have maps at the main gate area. Probably not good though for a 10 year old - a fair amount of up/down over rocks , esp the face on the beginning of the blue trail. But a great view.

I'll have to go up there and scope the place out :D. I was little (around 8) when I went and we hiked up to the castle. I don't remember being carried :D.

I do recall the blue and white trails, we were on them close to the top, and yes you don't want a child with you on those.

There is a red trail that is very tame and I wouldn't mind bringing my 4 year old on that one.

I don't remember which trail it was, but my wife, our 3 year old and I hiked one to the top that I thought was very easy (last year when we were living in New Haven). It was what I would consider the main trail. Maybe called the tower trail? Anyway, easy enough for a 3 year old boy. Mount Carmel (Sleeping Giant) elevation 739 ft.

Now I have to go next weekend. Been in Hamden for a year now and never bothered. The wife is one of those that will run up to the top. I just take my time and sooner or later she stops and waits. Sometimes I think she is trying to ditch me.
