I'll be moving to the Pacific Northwest next year.
Less than a mile from the pacific ocean.
Rains a lot.

I understand that Sleipner steel doesn't have a lot of corrosion protection.
As long as a keep a Sleipner knife clean and oiled, how likely is it that this will be a problem?
I am itching for a Casstrom...

Vaseline is an effect rust preventive and nontoxic, too. There are several varieties of rust preventives available. Just as important is the sheath. I treat all my leather sheaths with SnowSeal inside and out to prevent them from absorbing moisture.

I live in Seattle and have never had a problem with D2 or Cruwear and corrosion, even without oiling the blades; just a quick wipe with a dry cloth if needed. My understanding is that Sleipner is comparable in terms of corrosion resistance.

Also, for that type of environment I’d be looking for Vanax bladed knives in the future and you could basically not even have to worry about it.

I’d skip Vanax it’s harder to get a knife in it and imo a bit chippy/rolly.

I live in the PNW too and honestly even 3v under normal use is totally fine. Sleipner should be good to go. Just wipe it and toss some wicked wax on it occasionally and you’ll be fine.

If you really want MagnaCut is the way to go or heck even 14c will hold up really well.

I took my edc1.2 elk hunting in 3v and it poured on us naturally at the WA coast. No rust. I then became a believer that its rust resistant enough. I’m sure Sleipner would be about the same.

Now salt water fishing MagnaCut or 14c is ideal or something along those lines. Hard to beat the balance of MagnaCut over say Vanax.

I really don't care about Super Steels. I wanted to build a set of knives and I think Casstrom is where I'm headed.
That's why I was interested in the steel-- they use it a lot. I don't have a lot of experience with High Carbon steel
and I all I know is that it has low corrosion resistance. Once I get to where I'm going, I'll be in the woods. Near the
ocean. With a lot of rain.
