Does anyone else have a hard time closing the D'allarra one handed?
Don't get me wrong.I absolutely love this knife. The ball lock is really cool & darn strong. The ergos are amazing & it's a suberb cutter. It's just this one issue.
Any tips?

Thanks,

I use my thumbnail to pull the ball back, and I don't have any trouble. My thumbs are rather long, though. It may not work as well for you.

I have no problem pulling the ball back, but I have to flick it closed and then finish off the closing on my leg. But I don't care, it's a great knife.

When I owned one I pulled the ball back with my thumb and middle finger and pushed it slightly closed with my index finger, then finished closing with my thumb. Sounds more cumbersome than it is.

Yep, same here.

Just use the thumbnail to pull down the ball and the knife just flips to a close. Verry easy when you get the hang of it.

I have a bit of arthritis in my hand, so I find closing any ball lock knife, with the exception of the P'kal, extremely difficult unless I'm wearing rubber gloves.

Vivi,That's the way I close it too.I can't seem to do it with just my thumb.Just seems a bit of a pain sometimes, but I'll definately be keeping it.As with everything,"practice makes perfect".I'll get the hang of it eventually.

Thanks for all the tips guys:thumbup:

If your thumb nail is strong enough, try getting the ball between the tip of your thumb and the nail. The tip of the thumb is only at a 20 or 30 degree angle from the knife handle when I do it, a fairly steep angle. Then do the "push closed with index finger and finish with the thumb"

I pull back with my middle finger and thumb, then push the blade with my index finger.
Alternatively I'll just pull with my index finger and thumb, the flick the blade closed.
