From a few comments I received on my e-mail I have to explain the term "ugly" with these knives. When I showed one to a friend who is a civil engineer (This is a man who see beauty in fresh concrete and bridge abutments) he could not understand why I would leave hammer marks on these knives. After I spent a good deal of time explaining mixtures of texture and color in hand made crafts his response was "but it is ugly". So the name stuck.
