Knives with built-in glass breakers are like strippers, guns and Ferraris to me: I can't resist! I can't put my finger on exactly why, but they just DO IT for me. Big time!

I'm still on a quest for a couple slim, smooth EDC blades

and happened across this: The Heckler & Koch Ally.

It's a really slim, smooth & compact little knife with a built-in glass breaker!!!! :eek:

Before I click the "Buy Now" button on somebody's site, I just wanted to see if there were any other knives out there that are similar to the HK: compact, slim & smooth, but with a glass breaker built in.

For right under $30, I can't see how I could go wrong with that little HK/Benchmade knife.

Thanks again guys!!! :D

I'd say quality is at least on par if not better than the HK ally you linked.

Schrade = Taylor Cutlery crap.
That may be, but for his price point of less than 100 bucks, there's not much out there in the way of folders with glass breakers.

The Boker Wagner Reality Based Blade is a slim, lightweight knife with a glass breaker. The drop point mod# BOP055 is the way to go. There are some automatic conversions available at a modest price.

Yeah, but as I said in my other thread, I'll consider knives outside of my price point if they are really, really cool. :)

That HK Ally is a pretty nifty folder with that wrap-around construction. It's a solid piece of work in a compact size. I recently ended up with some store credit at my local cutlery shop and picked one of these bad boys up.

Glad to hear! Any other details/info you could give would be appreciated!

Thanks guys, only problem with the Blur is it's got those grip-tape handle inserts that'll tear the heck out of my clothes!

I was looking for something more along the lines of the HK Ally because it's smooth & won't snag/chew up my clothes.

I have the HK Ally. At 3 oz It is pretty much the lightest production knife with glass breaker available. There's some wiggle in the blade due to its synthetic washers, but not too bad. The frame lock is solid. I hate that it's available in combo edge only, but since it's the only knife in its class I tolerate it.

They changed the inserts in the Blurs from the sand paper type to rubber. They feel much better now and are not hard at all on the pockets. It was a fantastic upgrade! I also recommend the rescue blur.
