Slim hard-use knife

Thank for all the responses. I would love some great edge retention. I do use razors from time to time but like I said, I use my knives for everything. Thank you for the comparison. My small Seb is also insingo with micarta. I have an opinel an will try it out timberweasel. I was thinking about the Emissary. I hear awesome things about it.

No problem. The Insingo is quickly becoming my favorite knife, but if I was cutting cardboard all day I'd probably want a Paramilitary 2 or something similar with a large handle and a nice thin grind at the tip.

What other hard use tasks are you using the knife for?

I cut cardboard quite a bit some of it around 7/16" thick ( I never really measured it ). I 'm not saying it's the best but My Kershaw OD1 has worked great for over a year. I should take a pic of that little sucker.

0350 is slimmmer than my benchmade grip.

G10 scales are GRIPPY though, so that could be good OR bad.

It takes up more space in parallel with pocket material (rather than fat, pushing your pocket outwards) than my other knives.

I love the way a lrg plain Sebenza 21 carries, its alot of blade in a relatively slim package and I don't hesitate to use mine hard either. A Para2 also carries very good, interestingly my ZT 561 carries better than my 550, the 561 carries very well for its size but its def not slim. Theirs many good choices out there I could go on all day but nothing I own carries as well as my Seb's or Umnum.

I used the kershaw od1 a lot at my job and it went through a lot of cardboard and stood up to the task quite well. It's also incredibly easy to sharpen.

I don't like using a regular knife on cardboard, especially when you got boxes where you find a staple out of no where.
When I don't have a box cutter on me, I'd rather just start the cut with my knife and rip it apart the rest of the way.

If you love using a nice knife and don't have much else to use it on besides cardboard...rock on

I'd also recommend one of these...

Spyderco Endura 4 SE

Well it's a lot of breaking down boxes. Cutting tape. Sometimes cutting the boxes and flattening them.

I actually use my UKPK Rescue for heavy cardboard/zip ties. The Serrations are extremely effective for that kind of cutting, especially since incredible precision and super clean cuts aren't always needed. I would recommend a SE Spyderco of some sort for this kind of work, maybe a SE Delica. Keed a small slipjoint for precision cutting, like a Case Peanut.

A Sebenza for sure. I think it is an incredible hard use knife that is fairly thin.

A cheaper option for be would be a Manix 2 or endura.

Honestly if thats it then just get a box cutter. If you want a knife I dont think you need a hard use knife for that type of use, more so a steel that will hold an edge forever, look for something in M390 or ELMAX.

If you look around you can even find box cutter blades that are ceramic. :p

A box cutter limits you severely. At least get a skyline, or something.

We're not saying you should ONLY carry a box cutter. Just that for the tasks you listed it makes the most sense as that's what they're primarily designed for. :)
