Slimming my EDC

And here I keep hoping that Leatherman would bring back the Knifeless Fuse!!!! That's my ideal. Seem rare as hen teeth.

And this seems to be the dirty rotten truth of multitools. There is no perfect multi tool. Not for anybody. Everybody wants this or that with something changed to make it perfect. I wish Leatherman would offer a custom shop with some ability to select that you want and don't want.

Your thinking of the kick, my fuse has a blade.
I just wish it had a file and ( I think a saw ) like the blast has

If you guys havn't had a look at the knifeless rebar, it might do what you want. File saw and scissors. and I think they are tougher than the old kick/fuse line, really good cutters in the plier jaw.

SOG is the only ones that do swap-able tools and after spending a weekend setting up a tool, I know why no one does customs from the shop! its an absolute pain! I didn't have any plasti-guage, but the last time I did anything that precise I was building a V8 in shop class. from a manufacturing end, I honestly think Vic is the only company that could pull it off, and for the few guys that would do it, the cottage modders handle the demand.

Hickory, I'm definitely thinking of the knifeless Fuse. Link here: http://www.leatherman.com/knifeless-fuse-97.html#q=Fuse&start=3

Perhaps the same tool with different names?

Gadget geek, that new knifeless Rebar looks a) perfect and b) like a descendent of my modified knifeless Blast. Pretty much identical tool config.

For those of us who are committed to carrying an EDC knife anyway, this sort of tool makes a lot of sense. IMO, multi-tools are about the tools, not the blade.

I hear you with the slimming down. I went through a brief period carrying the larger tactical knife and light and it just wasn't working for me. These days, this or a very similar combo is what I carry on a daily basishttps://flic.kr/p/GbEYnd

I evaluate my frequently as well and what continues to work well for me is:

Small single AAA, AA or occasionally a CR123 light
Kaweco Sport pen
Generic mini Sharpie marker
1 knife either clipped to RFP or a small fixed blade in LRP

I just don't use any of it frequent, maybe the flashlight once a week but the bulk is not overbearing to me and I just like the toys.
