John Perry is teaching a slip joint folder course at the ABS school in July. It is in danger of being cancelled unless 2 more people sign up for it by friday. I think John makes some of the very best quality folders, and would love to learn from him. If anyone else is interested it is time to call the school and get signed up!

You do a good thing by trying to get more guys involved in this training. It appears that makers shy away from slip joints due to the time and extra work involved. They aren't easy to do well, which is why the top slipper slappers command a good price for their work.

If you think about it, in todays climate of fear of guns and knives, slip joints make a lot of sense. I hope you get more guys interested.

I took the course in Old Washington a number of years ago. That year it was taught by Eugene Shadley and Don Hethcoat. It was well worth the fee and costs of going!....and alot of fun as well...

I've called Scotty about this...................

I'm curious about lodgings down there and Texas in July (I dunno about that part).

I spoke with Scotty earlier today. He said they need 3 more participants to run the folder class and tthat the DROP DEAD DATE is a week from today, June 13th, 2007.

Nice guy................

I am going to call Mr. Perry and chat with him about prerequisites for this class and then decide where I'm at. I don't think of any reason NOT to go but we'll see.................

Who else?

Dan, Wish I could make it...it would be like old times.

Guys, John is one hell of a maker...this is a great chance for someone to learn from one of the best.
A friend asked me what the coolest thing I saw at Blade show was...and I told him: "a spacer on one of John Perry's knives"
On a side note: One of the best feeling knives I had in my hand at the show was a Farr hunter.

Dan, What are the dates?

Mace,
Thanks for the compliment. Your big bowies are quicker for their size than any others I have handled. The class is July 9th-13th.

Okay I'm in - wife and business commitments agree that me going to this a good thing.

I will call Scotty tomorrow.

BTW I spoke to John last night and it sounds like this will be a terrific class regardless if you ever ground anything or not ( hearing that their surface grinder is out of commission didn't make my day though ).

Now I need to figure out what to pack...................
